Yes, the Department of Homeland Security designated January 6, 2025, as a "Special Security Event", to prevent another violent attack on the Capitol like we saw on January 6, 2021. This isn’t about suppressing Americans; it’s about protecting democracy from extremist violence. After your attempts to downplay the insurrection, it’s no surprise you’d twist the security measures aimed at ensuring peace.

After January 6, 2021, non-scalable fencing was erected around the Capitol, and National Guard troops were brought in. This was a response to real, deadly violence, not a conspiracy to oppress Americans. There is no evidence that the military was given a green light to use force against citizens as a general policy. Stop fear-mongering and start acknowledging the truth: security measures were necessary because of the chaos incited by you and your side.

Claiming Democrats “nearly burned down DC” during Trump’s inauguration is an outright lie. Unlike January 6, 2021, there was no coordinated attack on democratic institutions.

Yes, there was violence during some of the protests following George Floyd’s murder, but there were also millions of peaceful demonstrations across the country. Democrats supported the call for justice, not the violence. Your attempt to conflate a movement for civil rights with lawlessness is dishonest and divisive.

The notion that Democrats have “opened America’s borders” to “tens of millions” is ANOTHER LIE. The idea that America’s borders are wide open for cartels, terrorists, and child traffickers is fear-mongering NONSENSE, not reality. You all said no the bipartisan Senate bill that would've deported the unqualified asylum seekers in weeks instead of 5 years so Trump could use it as a campaign issue.

Accusing Democrats of clinging to power is rich, considering your support for a man who incited an insurrection to overturn an election. Your side has been trying to rewrite the events of January 6th and spread lies to undermine our democratic processes. If anyone is desperately holding on to power, it’s those who can’t accept the will of the people.

Security measures around the Capitol are necessary because of the threat posed by the same extremists who rioted on January 6th, many of whom continue to spread lies and conspiracy theories, just like you. Democrats aren't “dangerously focused on power”, they’re focused on restoring order, truth, and stability after four years of chaos and misinformation under Trump.

The American people see through the fear tactics and deception, and they know who truly put our democracy at risk. I hope Jack Smith holds you accountable for this.
