Two F-14 Tomcats from the USS Nimitz mix it up with a couple of Mitsubishi Zeroes in the beloved sci-fi movie 'The Final Countdown.' The film imagines the nuclear powered aircraft carrier being thrown back in time to the eve of Pearl Harbor. It was released on this day in 1980.

BG Chuck Yeager only flew in the SR-71B once on 05 AUG 83.

Colonel Chuck Yeager was not an RSO or a pilot in the SR 71, even though I’m sure he wanted to be. He did get a VIP ride in the B model. He flew with Murray Rosenberg, who explained how happy Chuck was that he could look out the window and take in the sites. He said You can see forever…..”
He had never gotten a chance to look out the window before when he was flying through the sound barrier.

After World War II , Yeager became a test pilot and flew many types of aircraft, including experimental rocket-powered aircraft for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). Through the NACA program, he became the first human to officially break the sound barrier on October 14, 1947, when he flew the experimental Bell X-1 at Mach 1.05 at an altitude of 45,000 ft (13,700 m), for which he won both the Collier and Mackay trophies in 1948.
 I think it’s obvious that Chuck enjoyed his flight in our SR 71 Blackbird
