@haochengzhc@NavinaHeyden A fair comparison would be another native people without their own state, living under a bigger nation’s rule. Like Kurds in Turkey/Syria/Iran/Irak, Tibetans in China or Chechens in Russia. Not migrants who moved to Germany voluntarily.
@haochengzhc@NavinaHeyden What are the first words of my post? “Bad comparison.” Why do you think I said that? Maybe because Uyghurs have no choice but Chinese citizenship to live in their own homeland? Maybe because Turks are modern migrants and Uyghurs have lived there for centuries? Maybe.
@66Zfjyy@NavinaHeyden China ignored what most people in Hong Kong wanted, and it ignores what most people in Taiwan want. So what’s your point? And “reactionaries don’t count”? Convenient: anyone who disagrees is simply declared an enemy, so the majority is always on the state’s side.
@MengYan___@NavinaHeyden That’s my point, for god’s sake! The mistake you mean was made by the lady I replied to, not me. That’s exactly why I said comparing Turks in Germany with Uyghurs in China is NOT a good comparison. Do you even try to understand, or just recite talking points?
@xioyn187232 Much of China’s rise came from stealing, strict top-down rule and polishing away every edge. Buddhism came from India, Marxism from Germany. Every inconsistency gets erased. Your real advantage is power, enough to dictate reality to your own people and try it on the world.
@Dinar98390@NavinaHeyden It’s a bad comparison, that’s all. National identity and citizenship aren’t the same. Turks have a nation-state, Uyghurs don’t. If a Turk says he doesn’t belong in Germany, you can tell him to go back to Turkey. Where would you send a Uyghur? He’s already home.
@_sxovo@struztberk@grok@NavinaHeyden True, nothing bad. Balkan and Circassian refugees added some, North African influence is almost nonexistent. At the core, Turks are local Anatolian, which includes Iranian- and Caucasus-related ancestry, plus Central Asian from the Seljuks, already mixed with Iranians.
@_sxovo@struztberk@grok@NavinaHeyden Some of your ancestors fought the Chinese, some spoke other languages, like the Baiyue (related to Thai) or the Xianbei (Mongolic). Many were conquered and assimilated. And if all East Asians count as one race, then all Anatolians do too. So by your logic we’re a mix of two, max.
@_sxovo@struztberk@grok@NavinaHeyden So what? We’re not a cross of races either. Our DNA is roughly 80% Anatolian and 20% Central Asian. What do you even mean by race? When is something a different race and when not? You’re also made of peoples who once saw themselves as different and spoke other languages.
@liqiyu@NavinaHeyden Lol I don’t care, I don’t hold 1,300-year grudges. Relationships change, and I’m not a pan-Turkist. I’m about as Tujue as I am Lydian lol. Also, you want Uyghurs to accept Chinese rule, but they fought China too at some point. So did they take their enemy as father?
@Arslolly@NavinaHeyden If they don’t, fine. That’s up to them. But whether they feel connected to China actually isn’t up to them. And why do you keep talking about testicles and sperm? What does that have to do with anything? Got a fetish or something?
@_sxovo@struztberk@grok@NavinaHeyden Every big population is mixed, Han included. Northern Han carry Xianbei, Khitan and Mongol ancestry, southern Han descend largely from Baiyue peoples. And China officially unites 56 ethnicities. So what, ethnic separatism now? Can’t you mix? Ask Grok about that too.
@ExcitableH@TekeLili222@NavinaHeyden If flights get a bit cheaper and I find the time, I’d love to come. But don’t forget you’re talking to me through a VPN. I think that alone says a lot about how strongly opinion is steered in China. Hope you enjoyed the concert.
@mczsjf45814@NavinaHeyden Sure, many who fled in 1949 were officials and elites. Obviously, they were the communists’ ideological enemies. But the point is: they fled long before any “Western disinformation” existed. And those who fled after 2009 and 2017 weren’t feudal lords.
@lllllll12557561@wanniantai@NavinaHeyden Using a VPN in Xinjiang is itself flagged as suspicious by police surveillance apps, Human Rights Watch documented that. So “just jump the wall and post on X” isn’t that easy. And anonymous testimonies do exist, you just dismiss them. I’d love to visit, though.
@lllllll12557561@wanniantai@NavinaHeyden It was a joke. What happens to a Uyghur in China who says “I’m not Chinese”? He’s branded a separatist and risks prison. So people keep quiet, and you take that silence as proof. Those who speak up abroad, you call terrorists. So no evidence could ever convince you.
