@pr1234321@Boenau 12 deaths per billion miles for buses seems very high. A brief search found about 2 deaths/year in UK. What is your source for your number?
@Boenau@IsSaddleThereIs In Australia, drivers must stop when a pedestrian starts using a crosswalk. Are the rules in Britain different? Most replies here are blaming the pedestrian for crossing in front of the driver.
@Boenau Here’s a trade for him: forego paying the fine and forfeit his driver’s license. It’s no longer a cash grab and now a direct bad driving penalty. Let us see what the bad driver thinks of this.
@njpd2015@jktrotter 1) The registered owner can nominate the actual driver, like you can in Australia.
2) If that isn’t allowed, charge the vehicle and jail (impound) it for a time appropriate to the offences committed.
Hey Channel 9, where’s the coverage of the 50km Mass Start Women’s race? Athletes are still competing. All you are showing is greatest moments and the figure skaters playing around.

Curse Chanel 9. Men’s 4 x 7.5km relay. Last leg. 1st shooting stand. Top 3 racers come in to shoot. The broadcaster breaks for an ads. Broadcast resumes as they leave shooting stand! What happened?

@johnecohound Follow-up questions: How much has urban infrastructure changes affected flood drainage? (More roads, buildings, etc.) What cost to upgrade infrastructure to cope with increased rainfalls? (Drains, sumps, swales, etc.)
@BobFromAccounts A privacy protecting pay-per-mile system could be implemented by: owner reports current odometer & gov’t uses previous odometer reading to calculate miles travelled. Do it annually, as part of annual rego. Vehicle has known mass & dimensions. Use all this to calculate charge.
@dieworkwear JFK’s right trouser leg shows a lot of distressage (the wrinkles due to stretching forces on the fabric). Any comments on that, such as quality of stitching or the cut?
@TJH314@Boenau We should be measuring deaths per hour of travel. This measures exposure to the danger, which for cyclists & walkers is much different than motorists travelling the same distance.
When I’m choosing my travel mode, I consider how long it will take rather than the miles travelled.
@ptua@bikemelbourne Just some v. simplistic calculations:
$174k/space / 20 yr building lifetime = $8700/space/yr.
/ 365days/yr ≈ $24/day.
Assuming 20 yr payoff, no loans, full car park every day of yr, no investment return, etc, minimum parking is $24/day.
Anything less is a gift to motorists.
@antwerpenize@jonburkeUK Round tubes are better for bicycles. Square tubes have sharp corners, which can easily dent a bicycle’s frame tubes, whereas round tubes are less likely to crease bicycle tubes. Ask me how I know!
Went to this year’s Halloween Party as @dieworkwear - in a well cut suit, paying attention to the collar gap, room to move and a waist high enough for the properly buttoned jacket to cover my lower shirt.
