Demands by the farmers :
(a) Monthly pension of 10k.
(b) Govt to fully cover crop insurance costs.
(c) India to withdraw from WTO, so that farmers can seek more subsidies.
(d) Increase in import duties on food, forcing us to exclusively buy from our beloved farmers.
(e) Inclusion of agriculture in MNREGA, entitling farmers to Rs 700 per day for 200 days a year for working in their own fields.
I think these demands are too few considering that India spends "only" 2% of its GDP just on farm subsidies. That's more or less equal to what we spend on Defence or Health annually. Farmers should demand more, like free AC 1st class travel anywhere in India, criticizing farmers to be included as a crime under SC ST act, free tractor every year, people buying imported food items to be a punishable offense, Rs 10,000 per day compensation for every day of farming lost due to their protests.
