Believe it or not before the data center “monopoly” of big tech. Companies, web sites, streamers all owned their own hardware. These data centers are nothing but a way to make big tech the middle men so they get paid. Listen to bezos talk about how he came up with the idea of AWS… he literally says it out loud. Data centers are a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist there sole purpose is to exploit for profit… guess how much the markup is if you wanted to purchase your own storage today compared to 5 years ago? It’s ok tho just rent storage from the cloud and pay 3 times the price and it’s only gonna get more and more expensive. I’m sure they will blame the push back on data centers for it too.

Data centers are only good for big tech, it keeps money in there pocket. It’s equivalent to making people rent homes instead of owning. This is why big tech is dumping billions into the data centers it funnels all the money back to them. They put a strain on the entire infrastructure and supply, driving up costs in the entire industry that get funneled down to everyone else. Look at the cost of ram….

The issue with this and a lot of AI in general is it fundamentally has no use. It’s really cool, don’t get me wrong but it isn’t efficient. Now, if the car is able to drive itself at 2 to 3 times the speed of a human safely that would be efficent. However, until wide spread adoption it would be slowed to the speed of all other traffic until it is fully adopted making the ability useless.
