After 21 seasons as HC Galena's Ed Freed has resigned. He compiled a record of 124-89, guided the Pirates to 12 playoff appearances, was on staff for the 2003 state championship team, and won the 2007 state championship.

His 124 wins move him into 9th all-time in NUIC history.
