Guåhan Sustainable Culture donates some 260 seedlings to Catholic Social Services for World Food Day, promoting food sustainability.
They will be able to cultivate, harvest, and enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetables, while learning the importance of food sustainability.
World Food Day is not only about celebrating the amazing local food that we have on Guam, but about raising awareness for food insecurity and hunger. In 1945 the United Nations recognized food as not a privilege, but a right, and created the day which is observed annually.
Happy Arbor Day 🌿 and si Yu’os ma’ase to the UOG Bio Club for coming out and planting trees with our AmeriCorps Guåhan Sustainable Culture members at Sagan Kotturan CHamoru in Tamuning.
Arbor Day is when trees are celebrated and people are encouraged to plant more of them! Guam recognizes Arbor Day on the second Tuesday in October. 🌿
Happy Arbor Day and happy planting!
