Yesterday in Windhoek, we were proud to have HM Trade Commissioner for Africa, John Humphrey at the inaugural Commonwealth Business Summit.
He spoke on Paperless Trade and how digitalisation can reduce costs, boost efficiency & enhance transparency across the Commonwealth.
This morning in London, KenInvest showcased Kenya’s bankable projects during the Impact Investment Roundtable: Investing in Kenya.
KenInvest CEO, @JohnMwendwaOGW , presented high-impact, investment-ready projects and reaffirmed Kenya’s position as a leading destination for investment in Africa. He was joined by Daniel Mainda, CEO of the Nairobi International Financial Centre, and Mikir Shah, Founder and CEO of Africa Specialty Risks, who highlighted Kenya’s role as a regional financial hub and the importance of de-risking investment across African markets.
KenInvest, together with Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan, PS Trade Regina Ombam, and the Kenya High Commission in London, was honoured to meet with Kate Osamor MP, the UK’s Trade Envoy for East Africa.
The session was a valuable opportunity to strengthen UK–Kenya trade relations, with a focus on green investment, digital trade, and government procurement.
Trade between Kenya and the UK continues to grow, reaching £1.8 billion in the four quarters to Q4 2024 — a 10.1 percent increase from the previous year. This highlights the strength of our partnership and the potential for even greater collaboration.
The UK side raised concerns around tax uncertainty and VAT refund delays, which are affecting business operations. Kenya acknowledged these issues and reaffirmed its commitment to resolving them through policy reforms and stakeholder engagement.
