I'm a writer of fiction and memoir. My most recent novel Good Scammer is out now. The Accidental Collector won the 2021 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize.
@PolitlcsGlobal@guardian The English language (and spelling) is a colonial tool to oppress the poor and empower the talentless stooges the white people left in place to do their bidding after independence. I should know, I am white and English. We did it to scores of countries in our empire.
@ContraPoints There was a tacit agreement between the rich white Americans and the hispanic migrants. The whites said come and mow our lawns, look after our kids and clean our toilets, and we won't ask too many questions about your legality. The whites have now broken that deal.
Congratulations @guyken on the publication of #GoodScammer! A love letter to Jamaica, here’s a handful of Guy’s inspiration for the novel – from the sunshine and sea to the wonderful communities at the heart of the book.

@cissova@Menschpublishi1@FMcMAssociates I am glad you get what I was trying to do in this book, which i wanted to be full of sunshine, laughter and rebellion, three commodities I admire hugely when in Jamaica.
