The Brazilian samba group was formed in Rio de Janeiro in the 1960s and they enjoyed great success in a time that saw samba music have a revival. Just like their peers at the time, the group blended the traditional samba percussion with up-beat newer sounds.
Minha história predileta do Hermeto (eu não estava, me contaram): num Free Jazz no Rio, Hermeto e banda tocavam numa tenda e Massive Attack (ou teria sido Kraftwerk?) em outra. O som estava tão alto que os graves invadiam o show de Hermeto. Este não se importunou: passou a improvisar em cima da base do outro show. Alguém estava lá e lembra?
