Attorney General Approves Revised Three-Airport Rail Contract, SRT Awaits Private Partner Response
The Office of the Attorney General has approved the revised contract for Thailand's three-airport high-speed rail project, leaving the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) waiting for a response from private concessionaire Asia Era One before proceeding.
SRT said the attorney general's review raised 18 observations, but only one key issue remains: completing a review of the relevant Cabinet resolution in line with legal procedures.
The government has instructed SRT to discuss the matter further with Asia Era One, a CP Group affiliate. SRT briefed the company on the conditions during a meeting on May 8 and is now awaiting its response.

Victim's Relative Punches NACC Official at Temple as Fatal Drunk-Driving Case Deepens
A senior National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) official accused of causing a fatal drunk-driving crash was punched by a relative of the victim while visiting a Bangkok temple to apologize to the family on Friday.
Jarong Kromor, director of the NACC’s Bureau of Investigation and Special Affairs, arrived at Wat Thung Khru carrying a floral offering and funeral wreath for the family of 43-year-old rider Sornarin Nakongsi, who was killed in a crash in Nonthaburi on May 27. Video footage showed that a relative of the victim struck Jarong in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Hours earlier, Jarong had appeared before investigators and apologized to the victim's family and the NACC, saying he would take full responsibility for compensation and support. He also claimed heavy rain prevented him from realizing he had struck a motorcycle, saying he only felt as if another vehicle had hit his pickup truck.
Jarong admitted he had been drinking alcohol at a restaurant before driving and acknowledged he was the sole driver, rejecting allegations that he tried to make it appear that another person had been behind the wheel. Police said his blood alcohol level measured 189 milligrams percent, nearly four times Thailand's legal limit.
The official has been charged with drunk driving causing death, reckless driving causing death and failing to stop and assist a victim after a collision. He admitted to the drunk-driving charge but denied the other two allegations. Police are also investigating a second man who allegedly attempted to falsely claim he was driving the pickup truck after the crash.
The case stems from a collision on Ratchaphruek Road in Nonthaburi in which Jarong's pickup truck allegedly rear-ended Sornarin's motorcycle, killing the rider.

UAE left OPEC/+ to free production, is now doubling non‑Hormuz export capacity via Fujairah (after 2027), and is locking in India as a long‑term buyer via LPG/LNG deals and the build up of India's strategic reserve. These are three mutually reinforcing pillars of same strategy.
