Teacher-librarians who are passionate about building multiple literacies through school library programs and ongoing professional learning. Part of #sd61learn
Had such a great time talking about how to teach social justice through picture books at our pro-d last week. Uplifting to see my colleagues so engaged and excited about the books in our library :). #sd61learn#tlchat#professionaldevelopment
FACT: Budgets reflect values. We can't say we value the literacy needs of kids while failing to properly fund school libraries. No matter how big/small your school/district budget, the amount spent on libraries reflects the value you place on insuring all kids grow into readers.
“School librarians aren’t gatekeepers. They give kids the keys and teach them how to use the gate.” Every child deserves to have a #TeacherLibrarian in the school @gvtla61#reading#inquiry
From author @MargaretAtwood: "#librarians are not a luxury. Kids' marks go up by 20% if there is a school library and a librarian to offer guidance." @gvtla61
Our curiosity journals are bringing up so many questions we have about the beach. A perfect book to dig deeper into our questions is #explorethewildcoast. Thank you Gloria Snively once… https://t.co/gcxbAm1ET6

The countdown is on... Make a plan and get ready. On October 22, students, teachers and citizens of BC are going to DROP everything and READ! #BCTLA_DEAR
Wonderful questions. For me teacher librarians have always been the cog in the wheel. Their vast knowledge and expertise opens pathways to resources and their collaborative skills build connections that empower.
