@Gaohmee The exploitation of passion is absolutely one of the reasons the game industry needs a union.
It's gross how often employees have to put up with less-than-ideal situations because otherwise their passion is brought into question.
@bunnyladame @InfrnalSunshine @beccahallstedt Someone at my table, who CONSTANTLY used the "I'm not American so..." excuse, said something along the lines of, "I mean sometimes it's hard to tell right? So why should I get yelled at for misgendering?"
Really felt 100% safe at that table afterwards.
@InfrnalSunshine @bunnyladame @beccahallstedt Also if you're going to hold sensitivity training, make sure your sensitivity training instructor doesn't take the side of the people saying that trans/enby people shouldn't get offended if people misgender them by accident, a la "Hey guys" or other micro-aggressions.
I’ve been silent about this for almost my entire career and i can’t do it anymore. Sorry if this is rambling and messy, I’m scared shitless to out an industry legend like this but I can’t live with the secret anymore 1/2
Not liking the idea of a game charging $20 for a "closed pre-alpha" version (even if it means getting all updates and launch version included) that also has an NDA and no-streaming clause.
@InfrnalSunshine @bunnyladame @nicolas_noble@rwfrk @miketheitguy @Nyaiosh Whenever I'm done here, would LOVE to gossip about all the shit that went down because it's the turning point in my X year career from when I went like, "Yeah, things are rough but we good" to "Oh...oh fuck this."
@bunnyladame @miketheitguy This is definitely a tough line to walk.
Believe me, I'm doing everything I can including getting in on Game Workers Unite but there's a FIERCE anti-union feeling and we have to act like little spies feeling around for a safe person to pull to our cause.
Just going to wager that his skin color and name played a part in this conviction. Easy to throw those minority cops under the bus for things like this to appear 'tough'.
With the decision, Noor becomes the first officer in recent state memory to be charged with murder for an on-duty killing. Nationwide, such convictions are rare.
It's probably unhealthy, but I'm starting to side-eye any video game set in a "historically accurate medieval setting". Just seems like a really easy method to exclude women and PoC from your game.
Claiming anything and everything coming from China is a "privacy nightmare" is such an obvious dogwhistle.
Wonder how long it'll be til we get another surge of jingoistic "PROUD TO BE MADE IN THE USA" stickers on all of our shit.
