@CandyMille69862@JamesTate121 He is a nut job, but his comments on mitochondrial DNA is quite correct: there are no mitochondria in sperm because not enough room, and because the mitochondria are independent organisms, and would fight for dominance inside every cell!
@ChemPhysMajor@michaelshermer Transgenderism MAY be a mental illness, but it is more likely a dysphoria, which is a problem with brain wiring. We don’t know how to correct brain wiring, so the only solution is to find a way for the sufferer to minimise the dislocation, which MAY involve gender reassignment.
@michaelshermer The word is “proximal”, NOT “proxy”.
Proximal means closest to in time or place.
Proxy means a replacement for an original or real. Thus, a proxy vote is a vote someone is authorised to make on behalf of the person who legally holds the vote
@Del06146498Eric@JamesTate121 I have no problem with his belief about manmade environmental toxins, ultra processed foods, and too much grain-fed beef. My problem is with his weird &false beliefs about the efficacy of quack cure-alls and his opposition to scientific medicine.
And hid gutting of the CDC!
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 Recent average temperatures have been measured by satellite. All measurements have been made in several ways, and the measurements correlate well.
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 Actually, wrong! Average Atmospheric Temperatures have been measured by many other means, but for much of the last century, other methods that measure the temperature as a function of altitude in many parts of the world have been used to make the computation.
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 Haven’t you seen the pics? I’ve also seen the results while snorkelling, but that is merely a personal observation that affirms the careful research of Marine Scientists that confirm Coral bleaching and Coral Death over large areas of the Great Barrier Reef, and recently, in WA.
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 AND since no NATURAL processes can make temperatures changes at this rate, & it correlates with human releases of CO2 from fossil fuels AND theory, then we conclude that there is AGW.
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 One ALWAYS “massages” large data sets 1) to remove outliers; 2) to weight some data heavier than others if obtained from better instruments; 3) by applying statistical methods to judge its fit to one or more hypotheses. Only the latter could be confused with
“Massaging”.
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 What part is BS? The equation that shows how a small increase in atmospheric CO2 can lead to a large increase in far IR radiation absorption & atmospheric heating, or that the increase is due to burning fossil fuels?
@riktheozfrog@davestewart3 The other way around is also true, before outgassing starts to become a significant factor, which BTW, is a cause for concern, since it is a positive feedback loop leading to runaway T & CO2!
