It's business as usual in Harare.
At 6:30 a.m. I drove along ED Mnangagwa Road (formerly Enterprise Road) → Samora Machel Avenue → Jason Moyo Avenue → Angwa Street → Nelson Mandela Avenue.
As you can see from the video, traffic is flowing normally and people are going to work as usual.
The only anomaly I noticed was the famous Black Boots stationed at Africa Unity Square. Those planning to go there, please be quick - they're waiting for you.
Let us all think of our families, let's all think of our future. Unlawful 31st demonstrations can result in legal action, injuries & loss of sources of income. The better path is peace, dialogue & working together lawfully for our nation.

Today, as Zimbabwe marks National Unity Day, we honour the enduring wisdom of the 1987 Unity Accord - a conscious choice by patriots to place national stability, peace, and progress above division and personal ambition. As ZANUPF, we remain anchored in the conviction that unity is not a slogan, but a discipline that safeguards our sovereignty and strengthens our collective future.
Under the leadership of His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Second Republic continues to advance dialogue, reconciliation, and development as pillars of nation-building.
On this day, we recommit ourselves to protecting peace, rejecting division, and working together as one people, one nation, and one Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼

Friday, 13 June 2025, I was one of the many invited guests at the Reception to Celebrate the National Day of Russia, held at Hyatt Regency, Harare, formerly Meikles Hotel.
As I listened intently to the addresses by the host, His Excellency Nikolai Krasilnikov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Zimbabwe, and the Guest of Honour, Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu, the Minister of Industry and Commerce standing in for the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, my mind raced back to the commemorative event which I also attended and was held on Saturday, 9 June 2025, at The Heritage Village, Museum of African Liberation, to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The main Victory Day celebrations had taken place the previous day, 8 May 2025, in the Red Square in Moscow, where President Putin and President ED Mnangagwa stood side by side during the military parade.
Victory Day is, for Russians, a major event that celebrates the glorious events of 1945 when the Red Army of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) defeated the German Nazis under German dictator Adolf Hitler and made Germany sign the Act of Capitulation (i.e. Surrender) in the war.
The Great Patriotic War, as the Russians call it, was waged by Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler against Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and the other republics which composed the USSR. More than 27 million sons and daughters of these countries sacrificed their lives for the Great Victory. This war, which began on 22 June 1941, was part of the Second World War (1939–1945) and saw the Soviet troops crushing the most formidable, powerful, and aggressive enemy - Nazi Germany.
The Soviet victory over Nazi Germany brought forward the end of the Second World War in September 1945, with the surrender of the military regime in Japan.
The German Nazis and Italian Fascists, with Japan in tow, were the aggressors, while the USA, the UK, Soviet troops, the People’s Liberation Army of China, and the patriotic forces of Serbia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and other European countries were allies and joined the Red Army in fighting the Nazis.
To take note from this victory over Nazi Germany is the historical fact that without the Soviet victory - and the victory of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China over Japanese forces - Africa would, to this day, be wilting under the yoke of Western colonialism and imperialism. It was the Soviet Union, the People’s Republic of China, and the Eastern Bloc European countries - comprising East Germany, Poland, Yugoslavia, Romania, and Czechoslovakia - that supported the liberation of Africa through affording our cadres military training and weapons supply.
In the aftermath of the Second World War:
a) European countries, Canada, and the USA bandied together to form the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), ostensibly with the objective to provide collective defence for its members, but with the hidden agenda to act as an instrument of expansion and aggression - most notably against the Soviet Union.
b) Where yesterday NATO countries fought side by side with Russia to defeat Nazi Germany, today NATO countries are intent and poised to fight and defeat Russia. The Russia - Ukraine War is an existential war for the Russian Federation. NATO countries, by whatever means, want to be at the doorstep of Russia and encircle it.
c) Where yesterday Nazi Germany committed acts of genocide against Jews - killing an estimated 6 million in gas chambers - today the tables have turned. NATO countries, which include Germany in its membership, are supplying arms to Israel to perpetrate acts of genocide against Palestinian men, women, and children. NATO countries are thus complicit in the genocidal war being perpetrated with impunity by Israel against Palestinians in the full glare of international cameras and publicity.
d) It is beyond comprehension that yesterday’s victims of genocide - the Jewish people - are today’s perpetrators of genocide. Not against their erstwhile tormentors, the Germans under Hitler, but against an innocent Palestinian people whose only “crime” is to demand the return of their motherland, which the British in 1948 parcelled out, like a piece of cake, to create a country for Jews.
The key lessons Zimbabweans should draw from the genocidal Israeli war against Palestinians are that:
i) The international Jewish lobby controls Western governments, Western media, Western defence industries, Western financial institutions, Western ruling and opposition parties - in effect, anything of any material significance in the West. This is why Israel can do what it likes and perpetrate the most heinous genocidal crimes with impunity.
ii) Western countries do not care about human rights. Their motto is “Do as I say, not as I do.” This explains why their collective consciences are not pricked to supply Israel with weapons and watch Israel killing Palestinian children - the future of Palestine.
iii) Western countries have no respect for international law and the UN system.
To conclude my article, I call upon all God-fearing people to put pressure on Israel to accept a Two-State Solution that would provide a permanent home to Palestinians and help put an end to the genocidal war being perpetrated by Netanyahu’s Israel against Palestinians.

Congratulations to ZANUPF Campaign Teams in Gutu East Constituency, Insiza North Constituency, Chipinge RDC Ward 5, and Binga RDC Ward 4 for ZANUPF’s resounding wins in the by-elections held on 14 June 2025. Congratulations to all our candidates. You have made the ZANUPF family proud.
The electoral victories underscore the prevailing political reality that ZANUPF is the party of first choice, of unity, and of progress and development. Unity is the prerequisite to peace, and peace is a prerequisite to economic development. To achieve unity, peace, and development, let us all rally behind the revolutionary mass party ZANUPF under the able leadership of our President, Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa.
Those who have eyes, let them “eye,” and those who have ears, let them “ear.” Nokuti hatigoni kurega kutaura izvo takaona neizvo takanzwa.
At this stage, ignoring the gains of the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa is no longer ignorance - it's deliberate denial of facts and progress. The evidence is everywhere - GDP growth hit 5.5% in 2024, infrastructure projects are transforming the country, and fiscal reforms are stabilising the economy. Roads, airports, and power stations are no longer campaign promises but physical proof of delivery. The Beitbridge Border Post, the Trabablas Interchange, and the Gwayi-Shangani Dam are not political theatre - they are functional, game-changing national assets. So if you’re still chanting “nothing is working,” it’s your thinking that stopped working long ago.
