On Sunday, federal immigration agents in Minnesota broke into 56-year-old Chongly “Scott” Thao’s home without a warrant and arrested him at gunpoint. Within minutes, Thao, an American citizen, was brought outside in the subfreezing weather wearing nothing but underwear, sandals and his grandson's blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Only when he was returned home an hour or two later did agents look at his ID.
The Department of Homeland Security said the operation was targeting two convicted sex offenders, but Thao’s family believes it was a case of mistaken identity.
