We're due for a new one of these:
Heya. I'm Gregory, a genre and TTRPG author. I write stories someone probably told you confused them and games with rules for ogres rowing boats.
Follow me for weird, dark insights and narrative content you'll bookmark and forget to revisit.
Want to know more about L.O.R.E.? Let's cap the last few details of Character Creation for this #selfpromosaturday!
We looked at Heritages last time (see the quote!) so today we're looking at Backgrounds and Motivations.
#ttrpg 🧵⤵️
You want reasons to play L.O.R.E.? Let's start with Character Creation.
More than just a bundle of attributes, the plethora of creations options are designed to shape your choices both narratively and mechanically.
Split between your Heritage, Background, and Motivations, the customization is staggering.
There's so many ttrpgs out there, why would you play ours?
WELL.
I'll tell you. Over the course of several days. Because you have all the time in the world for that. Right? Right.
Coming to an internet near you is L.O.R.E., a big ol' D&D x Final Fantasy #TTRPG.
Quotes comin'.
#Gamedesign is always advancing, and I'm invested in the influences folk have that got them to the point of making their own game.
L.O.R.E.'s game influences come from formulative experiences I never let go of (shared below).
What influenced your game? Or what will?
#ttrpg
L.O.R.E. is a massive game with a wealth of character options. It's class system is unique, consisting of Class branches that let you explore multiple aspects of your chosen archetype.
The Witch sets you up to become a Hag, Spellweaver, or Witch Knight.

Wish us luck, #ttrpg friends! I just submitted LORE to the Gamefound open call. If we're accepted, I think that'll give us everything we need to truly make LORE shine.
I'm already so stoked about this game, the potential for an ACTUAL art budget sounds incredible.
The L.O.R.E. #ttrpg party of "Legends", featured in short stories across the player's guide and "legendary tales", canon companion stories to the game's official setting, "The Shattered Land".
Less social meda presence usually means more work is getting done, and that's been exactly the case!
For #selfpromosaturday in the #ttrpgcommunity, we've got some example spreads for the L.O.R.E. Player Guide. Enjoy some of the details from Book 1:
#Ttrpg Game dev by day and author... also by day... the LORE Player Companion is filled with "Legendary Tales", short stories featuring canon characters to our official setting that help establish a vibe.
And break up the content a bit. I do love me some old school fantasy.
Here's a small peek at the L.O.R.E. Player's Companion for #wipwednesday & the #ttrpgcommunity.
Just a bit of the introduction for now--basically learning InDesign as I go, so it takes a fair bit of time per page, but I'm happy with the results so far.
Wanted to do a #ttrpg design thread today, but the thoughts aren't quite running.
Instead, have s'more sketchy goodness of Alethia, one of our Legend characters; a merfolk with a class stack of Acolyte (2), Witch (2), Valkyrie (1).

How much #ttrpg crunch is too much? Is there such a thing? Are we too-stuck on options or is there always room for more?
I'm a fan of games with some doritos-level crunch over here.
If you'd to take a stab at a modern, dark epic fantasy novel in the vein of Malazan thru the lens of Berserk, give The Soul of Chaos a try.
It's a wild ride of serious stakes, in a world that doesn't fall victim to its own tropes and treats you like an adult.

@JoeBerne1 You're dead on, imo. I read it when I was, maybe 12? It ended up being the reverse, where I recognized Malazan in everything else.
Which is probably why I still venerate it over a lot of other series tbh.
