@ZackPolanski but you still suggested a 'perception of unsafety' - it makes no difference if you say 'neither are acceptable' - you still gaslit and suggested real concerns are in heads - contributing to the wider minimisation of antisemitism. You haven't apologised or redacted that part.
@SZade15 Given you’ve reposted Ihab here I assume you also saw his response to your tweet calling out your BS and naivety about the video of the hostages Hamas later executed?
@SZade15 This is actually disgusting behaviour. If you can’t allow the mourning of a 10 year old Jewish girl (yes killed by an Islamist for being a Jew - it’s a fact) without responding like this then you clearly hate Jews. Imagine if this was the other way round.
@BrightonPSC@HeidiBachram Imagine someone tweeted 'denormalise Islamophobia' and another responded with 'denormalise...' and listed atrocities by Islamist regimes around homophobia/sexism/oppression/terrorism/even the genocide of Yazidis at the time of ISIS. [2/2]
@BrightonPSC@HeidiBachram replying to someone tweeting about antisemitism by bringing up Palestine is absolutely antisemitic. If at a time where antisemitic attacks are at record levels your response to it is 'but palestine' - that's absolutely tone-deaf. [1/2]
@jewdas So you’re going to deny the literal testimonies of Jews and Israelis? If any other nationality or ethnicity talked of being hunted on the streets (even when fans of the team did chant racist things) would you gaslight them and deny it? These are BBC News testimonies
Does the same then go for someone wearing the Islamic star and crescent adopted by Turkey - a state founded upon the genocide of millions of Armenians and Greeks, and that is a colonial state still owning land stolen from Armenia and maintains occupation and suppression of Kurds?
Sadly, Zionism has made the Star of David a racist, genocidal symbol, just as Nazis synonymized swastikas with antisemitism. It’d be seen as a provocation if someone in a red swastika hat entered a Jewish shop, even if he was Hindu. The guy in the Israeli-blue hat knows this.
@m7mdkurd Does the same then go for someone wearing the Islamic star and crescent adopted by Turkey - a state founded upon the genocide of millions of Armenians and Greeks, and that is a colonial state still owning land stolen from Armenia and maintains occupation and suppression of Kurds?
@CardiffStW Genuine Q - can you include demanding divestment from China by the University too if we're being consistent about imperialism? Unis are making a HUGE amount of money off China while it occupies Tibet, commits imperialism against HK + Taiwan, and ethnically cleanses Uyghurs.
So when ISIS was committing genocide against Yazidis and blew people up would you have responded to a Christmas message about the Islamophobia plaguing Britain as ‘distracting from the real victims’? People seem to have an inability to acknowledge antisemitism without “yes but”
@GerryKeogh_@stephenfry So when ISIS was committing genocide against Yazidis and blew people up would you have responded to a Christmas message about the Islamophobia plaguing Britain as ‘distracting from the real victims’?
It’s possible to also condemn issues at home without ‘what about..’.
With regards to the Stephen Fry Alternative Christmas Message, if you were trying to convince him or indeed any of us that there’s not a significant antisemitism problem in this country, queuing up to spew abuse at him for saying so probably wasn’t the smart way for you to do it.
@StewartMills Are you able to acknowledge antisemitism without resorting to “yes but”? Would you have had same approach during the peak of ISIS when Islamophobic attacks peaked? Saying “this is a distraction from the real issue”?
@JoeBrolly1993 I’m curious to know if you’d have attacked a similar message talking of anti-Muslim hatred attacks in the UK during the peak of ISIS in the mid 2010s? Saying ‘people are being blown up by them yet we’re diverting attention to smashed windows here’?
‘Just Some windows smashed?’ Have you been reading the weekly CST incident reports? Do you know of the cases of death threats, physical attacks and shouts of ‘b*rn the Jews?’. The non-Jew privilege is real.
It is legit to address record-level of attacks against a community.
That Stephen Fry was invited on to national television to deliver a pro Israeli propaganda piece, diverting attention from genocide in Gaza and painting Jewish people as the real victims (some windows have been smashed) tells you how powerful the Israel lobby is.
@leechwaifu And here shows your lack of understanding of Jewishness and seeing it via Christo-Islamic lens - Judaism is an ethnoreligion, meaning Jews are an ethnicity/people AND a religion. You can still be an atheist and be a Jew. Jews have always been a people too.
@silaniganss Same with seeing Turkish flags at the demos. Turkey is a state founded on the genocide of millions of Armenians, Greeks and other Christian minorities. Much of what was once Armenia is now Turkey (though people don’t seem to know or demand action on that..)
And to see Turkish flags at Free Palestine demos when Turkey is a state founded upon the ethnic cleansing and genocide of millions of Armenians, Greeks and others. And the fact it took land from Armenia (yet no one is talking about that or demanding it give it back..)
nah i don’t like bringing attention to anything else aside from palestine rn but waving a gigantic pakistan flag to a march against genocide is just inappropriate and im being uncharacteristically nice about it
@Farid_Senzai@DaliaNewYork And yet nothing about Hamas’ continued calls to destroy Israel and calls to kill Jews? - which is the very reason the blockade still exists. Do they really think if the wall came down tomorrow Hamas will come and hug the Israelis there?
