Let the devs cook, let the ecosystem grow.

This may seem like a think piece (it's not meant to be). If you study cycles, you will begin to figure out how things work, be patient enough to let things play out, be a diamond hand, and have true conviction.

In the last few weeks, I have seen some FUD on the TL about One Gravity NFT and other Genesis NFT collections. The TLDR of everything I am about to type is: Let the devs cook, let the ecosystem grow.

I'm going to focus on the One Gravity NFT on @0G_Labs because that is what I am most familiar with. One Gravity was minted in March 2025. Thanks to our amazing community, it sold out. Now let's ask ourselves a question: how many months has it been since the collection went live? About 2, right?

Another important question is, how long does it usually take Genesis NFT collections to give the community what they want?

To answer this, we need to ask ourselves what the community wants. In most instances, the community wants one thing, which is understandable. We all know what it is, but I will call it the "first of many gifts." When this "first of many gift" arrives is dependent on things like when the chain/project goes live.

Now, imagine a world where you are asking devs to go live or give you that gift even if they are not ready to go live ("Do it even if you are on testnet, others have done it"). We don't have to imagine this; a couple of people prefer to live in this world. The important thing here is that the only reason why the NFT collection has any value is because of the perceived value of the project that is yet to launch, and the success of this "first of many gifts" is dependent on how great that launch is. For instance, if you ask the devs to release the product ASAP and they do, and things break, your "first of many gifts" won't be as great as you want it to be. I know there seems to be an easy way out; you just hit the sell button as soon as you get any "gift." That's also not an easy way out, because your gift may be as valuable as silver instead of gold, because the devs were not given the chance to cook properly. We have all received such gifts in the Web3 space that could have been worth more, but were worth less because something was not done right, or something broke when it shouldn't have.

It may be hard waiting sometimes, but it pays off when it is done right.

The second important thing to note is the nature of these NFTS that are central to ecosystems. I used the "first of many gifts" at the start because NFT collections with true ecosystem utility are not simply about that first gift but also about the multiple gifts that come with the growth of the ecosystem. The possibilities are endless:

1. Extra onchain utility when the chain goes live or evolves (Staking for rewards? Boost for stakers?)
2. Special perks for some onchain/platform features (fee discounts, etc)
3. Special perks for some Ecosystem dApps (Point boosts, WL opportunities, fee discounts, etc)
4. Ecosystem dApp Airdrops etc

All of that looks pretty solid, but it can't happen without an actual ecosystem. Like the first part of this post, if the ecosystem is poorly built, you may get all of these things as quickly as you want, but they will have no impact or be less valuable than you would have hoped.

Someone may ask, "but erh, why don't you only do the NFT when everything is ready"? What's the fun in that? Don't you want to have some fun? Seriously, how do you then build a proper community and culture, which is what NFTS are all about? These wait periods are important for the project and for the community to find a voice, decide what the culture for the community should look like, build a bond and create the environment needed to attract the ecosystem/builders they want and for the devs to cook.

It starts as a cool marketing tool, then it becomes a big community that attracts the right players and then rewards the community, which then leads to more marketing (hype), which then attracts great players, and it keeps going on and on. The first part of the cycle is the most important to build, so you are not building on nothing (empty hype and only speculation).

Study other chains, study how most great NFT collections have worked and study what Genesis NFT collections can do in the long run. And don't stop Yapping about 0G.
