See referenced article for reference. So 0.8% of all violent crime involved firearms of any sort across Canada, and greater than ~90% of those firearms in the 0.8% of all violent crime were confirmed outside the Canadian licence and registration system i.e. smuggled in. The remaining ~10% of the firearms used in crime include guns which couldn’t be traced but likely came from USA.
So being generous, say ~6% of the 0.8% of all the violent crime was committed with a gun that may have been sold legally in Canada, and not necessarily committed by a licensed person either. Any firearm, not necessarily a ‘frozen’ handgun, or one on the government’s exhaustive list of nearly 2000 rifle and shotgun makes and models.
I bet most of the remainder were bog standard non-prohibited guns. So generously say 25% of the ~6% of ‘crime guns’ are on the Liberal ban list. That’s 1.5% of 0.8% of all violent crime. What’s 0.015 * 0.008? 0.00012 or 0.012% of all violent crime is perhaps, maybe potentially going to be affected by this massive government initiative to criminalize innocent people and use the police to seize their property, destroy their pastimes and their trust forever.
So the government’s attack on an innocent demographic doesn’t have a hope in hell of addressing violent crime, given at best it might tangentially affect a tiny fraction of any violent crime, years or decades from now. No wonder police across the nation are telling the government that their policy is worthless and wasteful, that it detracts from actual police work to curb violence. IMO it is also a proxy sanction on an innocent demographic of over two million people, in response to the heinous crimes of very few individuals spanning four decades. Is this collective punishment, which is against international law? I suspect it might meet the definition.

BREAKING NEWS
Charter victory for free expression in Ontario.
The Ontario Divisional Court has ruled that the Ministry of Transportation violated George Katerberg's freedom of expression by refusing permission for his political billboard criticizing government Covid policies. The Court found that government officials cannot prohibit content on billboards just because it is political.

This is so NDP and CBC. "If we only knew, if ChatGPT has only told us..."
Everyone in town knew about these people. The RCMP seized guns there, the ministry knew all about these people. Canada has an honesty and accountability problem. Shame on these people for trying to wiggle out of this.
Ethics Committee Chair @JohnBrassardCPC did not hold back on the media.
He says Carney’s scandals get brushed aside, while the opposition is held to a higher standard than the government.
That’s exactly why independent media matters.
This should dominate the news: Hiking the industrial carbon tax 19% while Ontario auto shrinks is like raising rent on a building the tenants have already vacated.
No EU deal. 5 quarters of falling investment. 40% of manufacturing firms eyeing a move to the US. Ford's plant hasn't shipped a vehicle in 2 years. GM & Stellantis keep cutting.
Slow. Quiet. Inevitable. And preventable. Still no deal. No news. No update.
This is insane.
An internal report by Parks Canada calls the creation of national parks “harmful” and a “colonial injustice” — a document that was kept from the public for two years.
Instead of simply celebrating Canada’s natural beauty and history, Parks Canada is now reviewing heritage sites through an ideological lens.
Canadians are proud of our national parks and historic sites. They should be protected, preserved, and celebrated, not treated as something to be ashamed of.
Abolish the TFW program.

Start a standalone program for legitimately hard to fill seasonal agrifood, agriculture and seafood work.
Stop this abuse.
They Offered Him $50,000 To Apologize. He Told Them To Stick It | The Fine Went Up To $750,000
They offered him a way out: apologize, take a "training course," never run for office again, and pay $50,000 to an LGBTQ charity — all to make the human rights complaint disappear.
He said no to every single demand.
The fine went from $50,000 to $750,000.

What the CBC doesn't tell you. I went to the StatsCan report: Among the 923 people accused of firearm-related IPV in 2024:
66%- had previously been accused of some criminal offence;
56%- had previously been accused of violent crime;
36%- had previously been accused of IPV;
11%- had previously been accused in a firearm-related incident.
Seeing that legal firearm owners are RCMP-vetted daily, it is doubtful they are part of this group. @CanadasNFA

He was always the substitute drama teacher who accepted an acting role as prime minister. It is a forever stain on Canada that such an individual held power for 10 years.
⚠️ This @CBCNews article omits 2 crucial data points from the same report it references
- In 75% of gun-related IPV cases the accused was NOT in lawful possession
- In 91% of gun-related non-IPV cases the accused was NOT in lawful possession
Why do YOU think they left that out?
OOF: @MarkJCarney rejected a personalized gift from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, an engraved Sarsilmaz SR 38 revolver and a box of ammo, at the NATO summit in Ankara. @GAC_Corporate says the gun has been "turned over to RCMP for decommissioning" https://t.co/Y7s1eolTOT
The mind-boggling stupidity of the Industrial Carbon Tax. Canada is the only country on the planet that deliberately hamstrings its key industrial sector for purely performative reasons.

➡️Canada's emissions PEAKED in 2007.
➡️China is building HUNDREDS of Coal-fired power plants.
The luxury beliefs of rich, delusionsal Canadians is killing us. WTF are we doing here, folks?
Great video. Recent claims linking legally owned firearms to violent crime are simply not supported by the evidence. There is no credible connection between lawful firearm ownership and recovered crime guns.
Don’t accept the government’s new narrative when they try to claim that declining firearm offences, brought on by bail reform, prove their gun control policies are working. @CanadasNFA
