👋 We published an update about our efforts to make both software developers and build engineers happier using #Gradle.
Declarative Gradle is an experimental project to advance the user experience with a developer-first software definition, declarative DSL, and improvements in tooling.

v3.8 with theme upgrades for macOS Big Sur is available on the beta channel!
You can update to it from Contexts Preferences > Welcome > Update to beta versions.
@marcphilipp This is an interesting case, maybe we could add the default stdlib dependency conditionally based on whether a source set has any Kotlin files.
@marcphilipp We thought that it is reasonable for most projects to have a default dependency on the stdlib, as otherwise they all needed a boilerplate explicit dependency, and failure in adding it resulted in build errors.
@marcphilipp In rare cases, a project doesn't need the default stdlib, and it's unfortunate that your project was affected by it. Still, you can opt-out per-module, e.g. by adding this snippet to settings.gradle.kts: https://t.co/1BSUa9E60I
@topjohnwu I kinda get it, but don't get it. From a bank perspective:
It's not ok to use our service from device that has root access (Android OS)
It's ok to use our service from device that has root access (any desktop OS)
Android 11 is going in the right direction. Normal apps should not know a f**k about:
• List of user files (fixed by scoped storage)
• List of installed apps (fixed by package visibility)
Now please add a new one to the list:
• Unlock state of the bootloader
#UnlockAndroid
I advocate @AndroidDev to restrict hardware-backed SafetyNet evaluation to "real" security sensitive apps. Developers should go through an application process to qualify this level of API access. It is ridiculous for McDonalds to refuse to run on a bootloader unlocked device.
Kotlin 1.4-M2 is released 🎉 with a new portion of features for you to preview:
- Improved code sharing in multiplatform projects
- New flexible project wizard
- Explicit API mode for libraries
