I don’t understand the hate against AI in game development.
That’s like hating on game engines or code editors that highlight errors, or criticizing people for driving a car instead of riding a coach.
The future is coming, and the technology is already here. AI is one of the greatest tools ever created, and we should use it to turn great ideas into great games.
At the end of the day, it’s still about the passionate developers behind those ideas and what they create with the tools available to them.
🚨 Lucasfilm are "aggressively" pushing for a Star Wars Battlefront 3 according to a new rumour!
Both DICE and Bungie are in talks over a new Battlefront game.
Destiny 2 released in 2017 and they just announced the EOL which was 100% caused by the failure of Marathon.
Destiny 2 doesn't fit the profile of what I'm talking about, a hyped early access game that fails before or shortly after launch. Destiny 2 peaked at 314,000 players in 2024. If you are making a point with Destiny 2 you need to be more specific.
People get confused. This isn't about me. I have too many hours in Wardogs. I'm self employed. I can play as much Wardogs as I choose too.
My comments and perspective is about a sustainable community of players. We repeatedly watch live service games arrive with hype and then they die and I think the root is that people who clock more hours in game don't bring value they just make it toxic for everyone else who paid the same amount. Time gates on progression and levels will send the basement dwellers off to farm progression to get a meta advantage somewhere else. It's addition by subtraction.
It's ironic in the Wardogs community specifically how the teen/20 something basement dwellers and the old head CHUDS have come together to try and shout down any progression restrictions or gating.
The basement dwellers say "skill issue" "cry more".
The old head CHUDS say "don't be a bitch" "I wiped the lobby on day 10 with the starter sniper rifle". If you limit anything everyone will stop playing.
It occured to me the other day, dads are coming home from work getting wiped by their 20 year old son living in the basement who has been playing for the last 12+ hours.
S2 is a critical pivotal point in the life of Wardogs. Either S3 brings the right changes and get things back on track or they fuckup and S3 kills the community.
@Aersirma@Sniperwolf07@PR3SIDENT@WARDOGS We have no counter to the unemployed and streamers who play the game 12-16 hours a day while the rest of us work, shower, eat, and sleep. They didn't sell 3 million copies to basement dwellers and streamers.
@PR3SIDENT@WARDOGS I like the idea of the HZ being disabled/locked but maybe the first 2-3 minutes. The team joining really needs to be fixed. I think the progression is the largest issue they currently face. My idea is to level cap and raise the level cap every week. Provide a catch up xp bonus.
@AirwingMarine Tarkov has always tried to keep as much realism as possible in the gunplay and ballistics which is why this kind of LMG nerf is so weird to me.
@RealRedSpatula@WARDOGS It's uncommon to get a competent squad of random players together but it's glorious when it does happen.
I haven't seen anyone use the squad designation feature they added.
@hyperkind@elonmusk If something did go wrong and it got out of control it could fly or roll a significant distance with that much force. I'm sure it was all for safety reasons.
You have to take all this with a grain of salt. Airwing is playing with all his streamers buddies in a squad so he has a competent group around him and multiple squad members could carry RPGs so of course it's easy.
The reality is doing this in a random server with random players or completely solo is almost impossible. You are lucky to get two shots off and the tank speeds away unless they are retarded. Once you fire an RPG any enemy player in 100m is immediately locking onto you and hunting you.
@UncSupply@WARDOGS I've been seeing the same. Cheat ads in game chat and ping abuse. One game the server was ddos and warping all over the place but the cheaters were still getting kills in the kill feed.
@AirwingMarine I was irritated that I spent 150k on something I can't use. It is interesting how the price continues to change yet no one can buy gold bars...
It's weird how streamers and basement dwellers think they are the main characters.
It wasn't streamers and basement dwellers who bought 3 million copies of Wardogs. It was working adults with responsibilities who bought the game and when they stop playing the game dies. We have seen this happen over and over.
I fully anticipate the CHUDS who are going to try and shout down everyone "don't be a bitch".
The reality is that streamers and basement dwellers want low level cannon fodder to farm clips. The rest of us all want the same thing fun and COMPETITIVE gameplay. Unbalanced progression by definition is not balanced and fun.
