🖤💛Busy couple weeks for The H3 Project
At Del Ray Dog Fest, we raised awareness about homelessness, the bond between people & their pets, and how Narcan can save both human & animal lives.
We also trained Dentons employees in CPR & overdose response—equipping more people to save lives💛🖤

Today, I share an obituary for Carroll Ann Sauer, someone I never had the pleasure of meeting. Yet, her story resonates deeply with me, as it reflects the countless narratives we encounter in our work at The h3 Project. Every individual we engage with has a story, and sometimes, we learn invaluable lessons from what they share. And her obituary also highlights the difficulty families and friends can face. It is never easy when someone you care about chooses homelessness, over options that you might think would be better.
We care. Just as her life mattered, every life on the streets matters. No child dreams of becoming homeless; life unfolds in unexpected ways. Trauma, mental illness, and substance challenges can affect anyone. Yet, every person deserves compassion and support.
As we brace for the approaching storm, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to every one of you who has reached out with kindness and support. Your commitment to caring for others is truly commendable.
Thank you for being there when it counts, especially when not everyone is. Let’s continue to stand together, honoring each story and showing that every life is valued. 💖

🚨WE’RE COUNTING ON YOU🚨
As the Point-In-Time Count quickly approaches, @h3projectdc is preparing to lead the Union Station team for Washington, DC on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 — and we still need people willing to step up.
This count happens one night a year. The data collected directly impacts where funding, shelter capacity, outreach services, and life-saving resources are sent across DC. If voices aren’t counted, needs go unseen.
Volunteers work in small teams to compassionately and safely canvas streets, parks, vehicles, and encampments — always prioritizing dignity, privacy, and respect. Training is provided, and no prior experience is required.
👉 To be part of the Union Station team, you must sign up using our link (Link: https://t.co/BzuvIfOfEi ).
This is one night.
But for many, it shapes the entire year ahead💛🖤

🖤💛Six years ago, The @h3projectdc started with a simple belief: people experiencing homelessness and human trafficking deserve to be seen, supported, and given real chances to change their lives. Tomorrow, we mark 6 years of showing up—and we’re still here because of you.
This year, we were on the streets through the holidays. On Thanksgiving, we served over 200 gourmet cheeseburgers. On Christmas Day, we handed out gifts our clients had been wishing for—suits, art supplies, headphones—small things that meant everything. The smiles, the relief, the dignity in those moments reminded us why this work matters.
We’re a small organization by choice. No government funding. No donations used for payroll or overhead. Every dollar goes directly to the people we serve.
Tonight at 11:59pm is the last chance to donate and receive the tax benefits for this year. (Link: https://t.co/esewpC3npp )Your support helps us walk into the next one ready to keep going—because homelessness doesn’t stop, and neither do we. Thank you for standing with us and changing lives💛🖤

Remembering Leticia Brock
12/05/1980- 12/26/2025
With heavy hearts, we at The h3 Project honor the beautiful spirit of Leticia Brock, who passed away on December 26, 2025. Leticia was more than just a client; she was a radiant light in our lives, known affectionately also as “Precious” and “Baby D.” Her infectious laughter and boundless energy brought smiles to everyone around her.
As a passionate advocate for those experiencing homelessness and injustice, Leticia used her voice to make a difference. Her contributions to Street Sense newspaper were a testament to her dedication, and we always cherished the copies she brought us. Having experienced some trauma and setbacks in her own life, Leticia knew what it was like to struggle. Which is also why she was committed to bettering herself and the world, inspiring us all to do the same.
Leticia loved to sing and dance, often encouraging even the most reluctant to join her in joyful celebration. Who could forget that Christmas a few years back at Union Station, when she spontaneously took the [cordoned off] stage to serenade a group of high school students? Or even last year when she commandeered the microphone to sing her own h3 spinoff of a hit, at our annual September event? Her spirit was contagious, and her ability to lift others was unmatched.
At just 45, the world has lost a truly remarkable person. We are heartbroken, but we find comfort in knowing that Leticia's vibrant spirit is now in G-d’s hands. He's got his hands full! In a good way! And we can appreciate that she is also now reunited with loved ones passed. Thank you, Leticia, for all the joy, love and laughter you brought into our lives. You will forever be missed.
