@PlayStation and @RockstarGames these companies are in a weird place right now! #1984 #NOTBUYINGPS6 for the people who have bought GTA 6 cancel your preorder if you can. Why you preorder while Rockstar NOT giving us shit.
Have any of the people in charge of PlayStation ever studied business or did they just got their position handed on a golden platter?
With the death of physical media. They just destroyed their last remaining unique selling point (USP) they really had.
❌Price, with a $1000 at the minimum and the news they won't sell at a loss that puts the PS6 in the range of the PS3 release the console that had the biggest backlash due to their egregious price.
❌Physical Media, the PS2 introduced the blu-ray format which revolutionized the gaming and movie industry. The biggest selling point of the PS4 that won the console war of that generation before it even started. PlayStation build their console on their physical formats from the CD to the Blu-ray it has always been one of their major selling points and they do it all away for a digital format, that's not more unique than the new Xbox or playing on PC.
❌Games, sure PlayStation might hold many popular IP's in their freezer in the hopes they might release them again some day. And there might be 1 game out there that you thought may have been a banger for you. But face it the new PlayStation hasn't had the biggest success in their franchises since the PS4. The new format for PlayStation games is cinematic experiences. This has shown over and over again with each game they release, cinematic and flashy objects with qte's first and gameplay is an after thought. And frankly enough it shows in the numbers less people get PlayStation exclusives.
❌Free online gaming, for the longest while Sony had the edge over Xbox 360 for being the platform that lets you play online with friends for free. But with the introduction of PS4 this has been long gone too.
So thats that the three USP's of Sony PlayStation for consumers all gone. The only thing that remains is a closed ecosystem. A closed ecosystem Sony banks on that you will be locked into because your current digital game libraries are big enough that you can't give them up anymore. And that USP is not for you thats their cow to milk.
With no USP they can provide to the customers, there is absolutely nothing they can do to gain new potential customers. They are hard focusing on retaining current customers and with he current trend I can only see that number growing lower and lower. This is bad for anyone including customers who are still getting a PS6 because if less people join your ecosystem, the worse a digital service becomes. Unless major changes are made I doubt Sony PlayStation will be able to keep their head high long. Just look at the current state of Xbox this is currently the future for PlayStation too.
But what are your thoughts, any USP's I missed that PlayStation lost? Are you getting a PS6 regardless? And if so tell me why.
To the “it doesn’t affect me” crowd: not everything has to affect you to matter. If you don’t buy physical media, that’s your choice. But Sony stepping away from it affects collectors, preservation, ownership, and consumer choice. Let the people who care… care.

Warm up boys and girls. Tomorrow's the day when @PlayStation probably replies or publishes some tone deaf new post and we must be ready to hit back and hard.
If If PlayStation goes fully digital, we lose ownership, preservation, and consumer choice.

NO DISC = NO PLAYSTATION.
Let Sony know that physical games matter.

No more building a physical gaming collection. No more lending games to friends. No more owning what you paid for. Just digital licenses that can disappear if a game is delisted or a service shuts down.
Physical games have been part of gaming culture for decades. They preserve gaming history, give players real ownership, and often end up being cheaper than digital versions.
Would you be happy with an all-digital PlayStation, or is physical media worth fighting for? 👇🎮
Why PlayStation Shouldn't Abandon Physical Discs
1. Millions of Players Still Buy Physical Games:
Physical discs continue to sell worldwide. Many gamers still prefer owning a physical copy instead of a digital license.
2. True Ownership Matters:
A physical disc gives players something they can keep, collect, lend, or resell—something digital purchases generally don't offer.
3. Better Value for Consumers:
Physical games often become cheaper at retailers, and players can buy used copies or trade games, making gaming more affordable.
4. Not Everyone Has Fast Internet:
Many players still rely on slower or limited internet connections. Physical discs remain an important option for them.
5. Collectors Keep the Brand Alive:
Collector's Editions, steelbooks, and physical shelves are a huge part of PlayStation's identity and gaming culture.
6. Digital Revenue Doesn't Mean Physical Is Irrelevant:
Sony's digital revenue includes DLCs, expansions, microtransactions, subscriptions, and live-service spending—not just full game sales.
That means higher digital revenue doesn't automatically prove that physical games no longer matter.
7. Give Players a Choice:
The best approach isn't physical vs. digital, it's giving players the freedom to choose how they want to buy and own their games.
**My Final Message to PlayStation**
Physical discs are still an important part of the PlayStation ecosystem. While digital is growing and more profitable, millions of players continue to value physical ownership, resale, collecting, and consumer choice. The future can be digital, but it shouldn't come at the cost of eliminating physical media.

Naughty Dog is using a banner from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet trailer, but with physical game discs instead of music CDs🚀
It looks like Naughty Dog wants physical gaming to stay!😎
Though this isn’t a new banner, it is interesting if they’re using it as protest against phasing out physical media and they’d be the most BASED studio🫶🏼
NO DISC NO BUY 💿💪🏼
In Death Stranding Hideo Kojima shows his love for physical media through the character Heartman, who has a massive collection of Blu-rays, CDs and vinyls that he can watch and enjoy while being offline.
Physical Never Dies ! ✊
Remember! Do not get distracted by the Xbox news today!
Continue to protest and boycott Sony/Playstation to reverse the decision about physical media
We continue our fight until they yield!
According to Sony and many publishers, you don’t own your disc, you never did. Their terms can still restrict access or revoke licenses.
That’s why we fight for consumer law: physical media was one of the last limits on this control.
You will own nothing and be happy.
