@PamSmithDTN When I was 16 my dad once gave me directions that included ‘where the barn burned down 3 years ago’ and my smart mouth inquired if it was still smoldering… he wasn’t impressed.
@AgNews_Otto This.
I 100% feel this.
Ireland for two weeks: carry on.
An overnight concert 1 hour from home: full on suitcase and 43 errands to run.
Logically, I know it makes no sense, but that doesn’t stop it.
Thanks for sharing, def thought I was the only one.
#AgBookClub A4 hard to say if farmers are any different than anyone else - lots of people are ‘hands on’ learners. No matter what industry, it’s important to know how YOU learn and adjust to that when possible.
#AgBookClub A3 I have to go with space and neighbors…. Urban ground is expensive and folks have a tendency to want livestock etc ‘locally sourced’ but not necessarily close.
#AgBookClub A1. Benefits are hard to find on the farm - health, vision and dental insurance. Also retirement plans (matching 401k etc) are added incentive. A steady paycheck also helps!

Shelf stability and margin? However, even in rural areas it’s as simple as availability. I have to drive 14 miles to buy fresh fruit or veg, but the DG 8 miles away has all the processed food one could want.

Hard work, long hours, and also acknowledging you might not be the best in something and still giving it your all. Knowing how it feels to give it everything and still losing sometimes.

I remember my grandpa selling stuff to the local store, but between the fear of quality control and subsequent liability, he was forced out. IMO, Fed regulations and lawsuits have restricted who can sell what as much as large buyouts.
