Hello Yellow is back!

On 10 October wear something yellow to show young people they are not alone with their mental health.

Since 2016, the campaign has raised £2.1 million.

And hundreds of thousands of people have taken part.

It might be wrong, but having seen too many women become isolated and suffer from postnatal depression, I will always make a point of explicitly asking a mother how they’re doing before asking about the baby. Too often mothers are just pushed to one side when they give birth…

@AMercerMaths The standard settings are giving us some strange interpretations of standard form and it decides some answers students work with are so small the answer can just be 0 (definitely not 0).

I never thought I would be opinionated on calculator models, but I do not like this one… 😅

It pains me that I’ve had to buy a new version of our approved calculator model just so I’m able to understand the calculators students bring to me😅
(the buttons aren’t even that re-ordered, but I still find it so confusing)

As much as I adore my current job, being nervous for an exam my students are sitting isn’t something I expected or like.…

I know the exam paper, I know the answers to the exam paper, I wrote the exam paper, yet, I’m still nervous about (not even) sitting the exam paper! What?!

@ZJAyres I know of three friends who were told to bring someone with them to their first insertion appointments “just incase”.

Pain relief apparently not necessary but another human was recommended? That guidance seemed very correct when one fainted on me due to the pain (not).

Noting our UG students signing into this building on a Saturday, inside college closure, over a week into their break is really saying something to me (we don’t run January exams per-say).

Surely this has to be unsustainable?

@stewart_malcolm @CheMichael7 I couldn’t agree more with this- I think we currently teach proportionate hours for the amount of content, but don’t think the amount of content reflects what a degree should be. We probs do have too many contact hours for the current world, but just cutting them isn’t the answer
