Here's how efforts to remove Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem fits into the pattern of ongoing colonialism.
if you absolutely know NOTHING about what’s happening in Palestine right now reading these infographics in this thread is a great start:

I think the benefits of online participation outweigh the negatives because I feel you can always ‘turn off’ while still reaping the benefits. I am always using the internet in my free time, and if I don’t participate I benefit from someone else’s contribution. #315slides
I thought the movie Searching is a really good example of writing the internet. Without being an expert in code or anything, the protagonist tries to find his missing daughter through using the internet. I won’t spoil more than that, but I think it’s worth watching.#315slides
@AhanaDasgupta4 @alicek1m I have the same guilt! Today I forgot my wifi was off and kept waiting for a text for an appointment and I figured it out later. I don't think I can go a day with external interaction and the internet isn't necessary or useful in some way.
It was surprisingly easy and fast to edit the Wikipedia article. It was also fun and satisfying to see my work published even if it was something small. #ccom315#315wikichallenge
on another note, though my opinion on news coverage of celebs has changed, sometimes I think when you're a public figure that's just the price you should pay (with limits on privacy ofc)
I admit, I never check up on a source when consuming for fun and let it influence my opinions of others. For ex, I remember hating Kristen Stewart as a kid because of the way the cheating scandal was portrayed, now I think it wasn’t my place or the new's to comment #315fakenews
What has never changed, I think, is the use of fake news as a propaganda tool. It’s especially dangerous when it's coming from what the public view as a source of authority. #315fakenews
I was familiarized with ‘fake news’ junior year of high school. I remember watching the clip when Conway claimed ‘alternative facts’ and being shocked at the transparent logic manipulation. We were studying the book 1984, and my teacher compared it to doublespeak. #315fakenews
I thought of a letter to my home-city or to my childhood girl crush Taylor swift. But, I think I’ll end up writing one to Disney, or ‘Disney Channel’ to be more specific. #315pitches
Too many calls to action are overwhelming like the slides pointed out. There have been a lot of calls to action afterwards, but each time it takes longer and is less effective. I think it says something about how online activism is potentially less useful when the impact fades.
As an Egyptian, Twitter was a huge part of two revolutions, in January 2011, for the president to resign and June 2013, which ended with a coup to replace his replacement. The Arab Spring is a testament to the influence of social media in activism. #315slides
I think activism works to convey solidarity with a cause, even if there isn’t physical action. It also acts as a way of organizing this action for a given cause. I think it becomes powerful when spreading a message to change people’s minds or finding like-minded people.
