🎉 Honored to receive the Chemistry Letters Young Researcher Poster Award at #ISMSC2025 in Kyoto! I truly enjoyed the trip to Japan and the chance to share my work on the use of halogen bonding in supramolecular adaptive systems. #SupramolecularChemistry#Japan
Our first co-authored paper has just been published. I wish I could share this joy with you—it meant so much to me. But still… congratulations. From the bottom of my heart.

Our recently EU Doctorate Industrial Network “Photocatalytic Industrial Applications” (PIA) is looking for 6 motivated young chemists interested in a 3-year PhD on photocatalysis. 📢Have a look here https://t.co/IvqG7ybUe8, application dead-line 16th March to start in June 2025!
Congratulations to @haamartinez from @uni_muenster on winning an honorable mention in the #LatinXChemSupra category.🏆We congratulate Alejandro on this remarkable achievement.
I’m thrilled to announce that our paper on halogen-bonded supramolecular polymers has been accepted for publication in @angew_chem ! 🎉
A huge thank you to the entire team for their contributions and support

@FellipeFreire@LatinXChem This is why we use NMR titration experiments to monitor and assess the strength of halogen bonds in solution, providing insights into how these interactions acts in solution
Hi @LatinXChem , presenting my work ‘Controlling photoresponsive and aqueous Self-Assembly behavior of OPE derivatives by halogen-bonding’ at #LatinXChem24#LatinXChemSupra#Supra02.” I`m so happy to share and discuss with all the Latin American Community in SupraChem
@FellipeFreire@LatinXChem Electronegative groups, like fluorine atoms, can increase the size of the sigma hole in halogen bonding. However, these atoms, particularly ortho-fluorines on iodine, can also be influenced by changes in their chemical environment
@FellipeFreire@LatinXChem Hi! Great question. A halogen bond occurs when the sigma-hole of a halogen donor (like iodine) interacts with an electron-rich site (such as pyridine nitrogen), altering the electronic environment around the donor
@AnchietaChayene@LatinXChem Regarding system morphology, halogen bonding can reorganize the entire structure, altering both π-π stacking in OPE and hydrogen bonds involved in self-assembly. Our findings show that halogen bond from the azobenzene can modify the slipped arrangement of OPE to H-type aggregate
@AnchietaChayene@LatinXChem Addittional to the previous comment, in this case we are transfering the light responsive behavior through "Supramolecular Communication" changing the perspective where properties as light photoswitching should be included by attaching a molecular photoswitch via covalent bond
@AnchietaChayene@LatinXChem Hi! Thanks so much for asking. One of the main advantages of halogen bonding is its linear geometry (180°), compared to traditional hydrogen bonding. This linearity can extend the OPE system and communicate light responsiveness.
🗒️ @felixfreirelab and his team organise the 2nd Scientific Meeting on Self-Assembled Materials: #CiQUS is hosting 2⃣ days of enriching discussions in the field.
Thank you for all your support since our day 1 to visibilize the Latin American research in Chemical Sciences. We are a 15000 members family! #LatinXChem
This August we played again in the ChemCup.... I missed it this year... but the AK Garcia+Fernandez gave their best! Second position on the podium! Great game(s) and fun! 👏👏🥳💪
