So here's the thing. You can only violate people's legal rights and your own word so far before they lawyer up and come after you.
I really do hope Musk changes his mind and does the right thing - the employees deserve that. But it'll be fun as hell if he doesn't.
@eeforrrest@CarlyDanger Not to belittle it (poke, poke, poke), but there's a contingency a metric ƒ-ton of cash to be raised for this to happen. Stay tuned till May 2025 for more!
(Alt description was being janky, so: the above image has our Shakespeare in the City logo, which has a stylized William Shakespeare riding a skateboard, with a quill in one hand, and poor Yorick's skull in the other.)
Hello, Milwaukee! I am building a coalition to cement the path forward for Optimist Theatre, local producers of Shakespeare in the Park. Our 2024 season was great, and there is strong demand for more free, professional shows. With your help we have more shows in 2025!
This coalition will help cement our path forward. Working on this summer's tour showed me that theatre is home, and I want to bring it to more people across Milwaukee. Let's talk!
@Citizen_MKE@DiscourseMKE@IsaacRowlett@ISFriendsHour Economies of scale are exactly why we will see more consolidation and cross-service. I remember in the early '90s someone groused about how fast Middleton got its streets plowed in winter, compared to Madison. There are reasons for that...
@DiscourseMKE@IsaacRowlett@ISFriendsHour One place to look at is road and highways. Many burbs still have county hwys. That said, highways are ~very~ expensive, around $1MM/mile last I knew about it. This speaks to the need for better muni financing, as well as organizing and unifying.
@DiscourseMKE@IsaacRowlett@ISFriendsHour In the Patrick Cudahy fire, area fire depts. couldn't talk to each other via radio. Thus began a long process began to unify emergency dispatch, which is now (mostly) under Milwaukee County's operation. Is the City's system may still be separate?
@DiscourseMKE@IsaacRowlett@ISFriendsHour I came here to say this. They already share a school district with West Allis. Your other point about consolidation public safety services makes sense. Look at the North Shore consolidated services. It saves them a lot of money, and operates quite well.
@KathyLangeNovak@IsaacRowlett And the dissolution of the Town of Madison literally just happened within the last year or so. A long-standing drama, resolved.
