@survivalAlerts I understand that, but most of our politicians still don’t seem to grasp the reality even after 1991. It’s encouraging to see that the younger generation now understands the issue, and I’m hopeful they will positively influence current politics.
After reading the full report, I believe it is largely positive. The disclaimer that caused confusion simply reflects the traditional U.S. position, which we are working to change through both legal and political channels.
We need to start this change from within. Our constitution clearly states that Somaliland gained independence in 1991, meaning we broke away. Unfortunately, many of our politicians still don’t fully grasp the complexities surrounding Somaliland’s independence.
That said, Congress will study the report and, hopefully, introduce or support bills that work in our favor. To achieve this, the government needs to wake up, replace most of the current cabinet, and bring in capable, competent people.
Standard U.S. disclaimer on Somalia’s territorial integrity will always be there until that changes. Mandated reports like this are common tools for oversight. They do not bind Congress to any course of action; they inform it. Congress can introduce or advance bills based on the report’s recommendations. Examples of related ongoing efforts: H.R. 3992 (Republic of Somaliland Independence Act): Would declare U.S. policy against Somalia’s territorial claims over Somaliland and authorize formal recognition. Introduced in 2025, referred to committee. All we need is to have the right people to represent us. With all respect the current minister of MFA is incompetent.
Agreed 💯 how you put it. The president needs to appoint a competent minister to the Foreign Ministry, someone like Dr. Bayle, Bihi Yonis, or of that caliber. It’s mind-boggling why the current minister is still in that position.
Another concern I have is how much influence Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey have over the Trump administration and his family.
@yusufAdnan70@nomadheritage China will never recognize Somaliland as a sovereign nation. Government needs to appoint competent ministers and get rid off of these incompetent TikTokers.
Never been to Sanaag, beautiful, rich and historical. @MiddleEast_24 The Somali Ambassador, who is closely aligned with Turkey, attended the conference mainly for a photo opportunity and to dismiss the genuine relationship between Somaliland and Israel. However, Somalia, a country controlled by extremists, called him out.
