🇵🇰 Pakistan's biggest crime is the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, which was installed by Shehbaz Sharif.

The coal comes from Karachi, and electricity is being generated in Sahiwal.

Someone asked, "Why did you install the plant here?" So he said, "I want electricity generation to be visible in Punjab." Now, including this one, five plants are lying closed.

The government could not play nicely for a long period and has again started increasing taxes on fuel. It yesterday increased levy on diesel despite overall prices remain high. Levy on diesel is increased by Rs1.44 to Rs72.26 per litre. As a result diesel price is reduced only Rs2 to Rs384/ litre. Trust is the main issue with this “collapsed system”.

Chairman sb you have rightly identified business models in Pakistan and its limitations.
If I may add, Over a decade ago, I, along with journalists from Europe and Asia, visited German state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany. We also went to family owned factories doing billions of Euros annual business. Most of these were family-owned SMEs. They were competitive and making profits. Resolution of Trade disputes, which you also identified as a hurdle, was not an issue because of strong and independent judicial system. Above all, the economic environment was competitive and cost of doing business was/is not high.
Our problem is high taxation, high energy costs, low trusts in courts, abnormally high interest rates, low availability of capital and non recognition of SMEs as a true player for economic revival. SMEs owners mostly do not get an audience with PM before or after budget.

The renewed debate over new provinces and administrative units rests on a flawed assumption: that Pakistan's governance failures stem from provinces being too large or too few.

They do not.

Pakistan's core problem is not administrative geography but political economy. Access to the state and proximity to power have become valuable economic assets, generating patronage, privileges, and rents. Competing elite networks—political, bureaucratic, business, and military—contest control of these resources, while ordinary citizens bear the costs through weak services, fiscal strain, and stagnant growth.

Creating new provinces does not change these incentives. It simply creates more offices, more bureaucracies, and more opportunities for patronage within the same system. Redrawing boundaries may alter who benefits from state power, but it does little to transform how that power is exercised.

The more revealing question is why this issue is being prioritised now. Pakistan faces far more pressing challenges: weak state capacity, poor public-service delivery, fiscal stress, and a stagnant economy. Yet the political conversation is increasingly focused on maps rather than institutions.

That is because administrative reorganisation offers the appearance of structural reform without confronting the interests that underpin the status quo. It is easier to debate new provinces than to empower local governments, reform the civil service, broaden the tax base, strengthen accountability, or tackle entrenched systems of privilege and extraction.

Pakistan's crisis is not a cartographic one. Until the incentives that shape the country's political economy are addressed, multiplying administrative units will remain a political power games exercise rather than a governance solution.

اور ہم نے آئ ایم ایف سے بھیک میں 7 ارب ڈالر لیا ہوا ہے۔ یعنی جو آئ ایم ایف سے لیا ہے فقط پچھلے پانچ سالوں میں اُس کا چار گُنا زیادہ چوروں کو بانٹ دیا ہے۔

سو نئے صوبے بنا لو۔ پچاس نئے لیڈر لے آؤ۔ پوری قوم کو جیل میں ڈال دو۔ کبھی کچھ نہیں ٹھیک ہوگا جب تک نظام نہیں ٹھیک ہوگا۔

Cabinet rejects ban on rich purchases!

The federal cabinet has rejected a proposal to immediately ban purchases of cars, investment in stocks, cash withdrawals and buying properties beyond a certain value by persons having insufficient declared resources to support these purchases.

The move underscores a weakened political will to go after these rich people and is also in breach of a commitment given to the IMF to ban these economic transactions from July 1 by ineligible persons.
