We are legally challenging Reform’s Norfolk County Council attempt to build 446 houses on grade 1 agricultural land in my constituency.

So, what has actually happened?

Reform has the most seats on Norfolk County Council, but not a majority. With our nine Restore Britain/GYF councillors, we have been supporting them when they are making sensible decisions to get stuff done.

This is NOT a sensible decision.

This farm is just outside Hopton in my constituency, a beautiful part of Norfolk.

The administrative process to concrete over the farm started before Reform took control, but the power to stop the development is entirely in their hands.

Why?

It is Norfolk County Council owned farmland. There is currently a farmer with a lease on the land.

The council is ending that lease to build on the farm.

They could reverse that decision, quite easily.

But. It gets worse. Who is building on the land?

A development company called Repton.

Who owns Repton?

Reform’s Norfolk County Council.

So they own the land, and own the building company which is going to construct the 446 houses.

It’s about money. It’s about profit. That is it.

It all stinks.

This has been discussed at length with the Reform administration at Norfolk County Council - they are fully aware of the situation,.

Some Reform councillors have voiced their opposition, and I thank them for that.

If Reform decided they did not want this farm to be destroyed, there would be a big majority on the council for that.

Our plan is to force a motion at full council on Tuesday to prove that.

The local community cannot absorb hundreds and hundreds of new people, and we should not be losing such a productive farm.

That is why we are legally challenging the decision.

This is a red line for us.

We made a promise to our residents at the elections we won in May, and we are going to do everything in our power to keep that promise.

Controlling inflation is absolutely central to Restore Britain’s economic platform.

Inflation is not some abstract number that is discussed on the news every now and again by economics.

It makes ordinary people poorer. It makes all of us poorer.

The food shop getting more expensive, pints now well above five pounds, material for the tradesman costing so much more. Energy, insurance and wage costs rising for small businesses.

Savings that a young family have spent years pulling together is worth so much less, the pensioner watching a lifetime of savings lose purchasing power.

And when inflation becomes embedded, people can receive a pay rise on paper and still become poorer in reality. That is why the country feels so dreadfully unaffordable.

We don't have to meekly accept that as inevitable.

That is why controlling inflation must be one of the most basic responsibilities of government.

Politicians, from all parties, have behaved as though government can spend, borrow and expand without consequences. It cannot. If I ran a company like these cowboys have run the country, I would go to prison.

A Restore Britain Government will bring discipline back to the public finances.

Discipline is the word.

We will ruthlessly examine government spending, eliminate waste, destroy unnecessary bureaucracy and demand absolute value for every pound taken from taxpayers.

Cuts, cuts, and then more cuts - a state that lives within its means. Cuts to first the size of the state, then tax.

Ultimately, borrowing nothing and beginning the process of paying off our debt.

But that discipline alone is not enough.

Britain also has to produce more, and deport more.

More energy. More available homes. More infrastructure. More goods. More productive businesses.

We will remove the barriers that make Britain unnecessarily expensive.

That means pursuing abundant, reliable domestic energy rather than accepting permanently high energy costs. This is absolutely vital.

Everything else follows cheap energy, and when it’s expensive? Everything follows that too.

It means cutting regulation that makes it unnecessarily expensive to build, manufacture, employ and invest.

It means recognising the economic consequences of rapid population growth through mass immigration. You cannot dramatically increase demand for housing, transport and public services without considering whether supply can possibly keep pace. It OBVIOUSLY cannot.

And the endless money-printing cycle will end.

It is simply impossible to inject that amount of money into the system and not expect there to be a reaction to that - inflation will inevitably rise. This is just basic common sense.

How Restore Britain will reduce the cost of living.

- Control spending.
- Cut tax.
- Control borrowing.
- Produce abundant energy.
- Increase domestic supply.
- Cut the cost of doing business.
- Restore productivity.
- Stop overwhelming infrastructure and housing with uncontrolled immigration.
- Deport.
- End reckless money-printing.
- Maintain sound money.

Our objective will be so much more than bigger numbers on Treasury spreadsheets.

It should be something much simpler, and more tangible.

Your wages should buy more next year than they buy today.

That is what economic progress looks like, and that is what sound government should deliver.

Controlling inflation is absolutely fundamental to achieving it all.

That lengthy process will be incredibly challenging, but it will be central to everything that Restore Britain does.
