PRESS STATEMENT
ALIGNMENT WITH THE NIGERIA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC)
The Obidient Movement affirms the next phase of our collective political engagement.
Following the decision of His Excellency, Peter Obi, to disengage from the ADC in pursuit of a more stable, credible, and value driven vehicle for national transformation, and his subsequent registration alongside Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, we are moving forward to consolidate our collective efforts on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
This transition reflects the strategic necessity for national renewal, which requires a united, stable, and functional political platform through which the aspirations of the Nigerian people can be effectively pursued.
We call on all members of the Obidient Movement to proceed with registration into the Nigeria Democratic Congress at their respective wards. To support this process, a digital membership platform has been made available to enable seamless registration for Nigerians at home and abroad. Members are encouraged to register via the official portal: https://t.co/M0QR1vUaF4
As we take this step, we remain guided by our shared vision of building a New Nigeria anchored on accountability, competence, and service to the people. This is not merely a political transition, but a continuation of our collective commitment to national transformation.
Let us remain united, focused and resolute as we build a platform that truly reflects the will and aspirations of the Nigerian people.
A New Nigeria is possible.
Signed
Dr. Yunusa Tanko

*PLOT TO UNDERMINE PETER OBI'S CANDIDACY: A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY*
ββββββββββββββββ
The Obidient Movement strongly alert the nation and the international community to a *sinister scheme* orchestrated by the ruling party, aimed at denying HE Peter Obi a platform for the upcoming January 2027 poll.
This underhanded plan has been in motion since the 2023 election, deliberately injecting crises into Obi's former party, the Labour Party, to prevent him from securing a foothold. Despite Obi's relentless efforts to restore peace, government infiltrators aided by a compromised judiciary consistently thwarted these attempts.
In *April 2025*, the Supreme Court ruled on the rightful control of the Labour Party. The ruling party ignored this decision, using lower courts to undermine the Supreme Court's authority.
When credible intelligence indicated that internal turmoil would persist until Obi was ousted, he made the difficult decision to *exit the party on December 31, 2025*. As predicted, the same courts that had ignored the Supreme Court suddenly acted on *January 7, 2026*, dismissing the meddlesome intrusions of the Labour Party leadership and it's faction.
After aligning with the *African Democratic Congress (ADC)* and bringing renewed energy to the party, the ruling party escalated its sabotage β pursuing legislative changes that led to a damaging amendment to the Electoral Act, explicitly designed to pressure the ADC and undermine Obi's presidential ambitions.
Obi's visit on *March 22, 2026*, to former Kano Governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate *Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso* β where he was warmly received by Kwankwasiyya members β only intensified the ruling party's hostility.
The tipping point came at the *ADC's massive rally in Kano on March 30, 2026*, where Kwankwaso officially joined the ADC. In a desperate move, the government manipulated INEC to reinterpret an Appeal Court ruling, leading to the *delisting of the ADC's leadership* , putting Obi and other aspirants at serious risk of being denied a platform.
βββββββββββββββ
The Peter Obi Media Office *categorically condemns* this trend as a blatant scheme to:
-Undermine democracy
-Establish a one-party dictatorship
-Continue exploiting Nigeria's resources through corruption
They are propping up surrogates across parties to create an *illusion of democratic choice* in a nation of over 200 million diverse people.
ββββββββββββββββββββββ
This agenda would do a profound disservice to millions of Nigerians β especially the *youth, women, and intellectuals* β who desire a Nigeria built on *production over consumption*, reduced waste, and zero tolerance for corruption.
We call on *all stakeholders* to uphold the values of democracy and ensure Peter Obi has the opportunity to present his vision to the Nigerian electorate.
Together, we can build a brighter future.
*A NEW NIGERIA IS POSSIBLE!*

ADC has decided to continue with all Congress from ward up to national level because the INEC monitoring of Congress is not mandatory and the court order didn't remove David Mark lead NWC.
Already, ADC has notified INEC for all this congress and the notification was received and acknowledged by INEC.

A CALL TO SAVE NIGERIA: NATIONWIDE PROTEST TO DEFEND NIGERIAβS DEMOCRACY
#OccupyINEC#SaveNigeria
2nd April, 2026
Issued by: Obidient Movement
There are moments in the life of a nation when silence becomes dangerous and inaction becomes complicity. Nigeria has arrived at such a moment.
Across the country, there is a growing sense that the foundations of our democracy are being tested.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which should stand as an impartial guardian of the peopleβs will, is increasingly perceived as compromised under the present administration.
At the same time, opposition voices appear to be under pressure in ways that raise serious concerns about the future of Nigeriaβs multi-party democracy.
When institutions lose credibility, the will of the people is endangered. And when that happens, citizens have a duty to act.
The Obidient Movement remains committed to a Nigeria where institutions are strong, elections are credible, and leadership reflects the true choice of the people. It is from this position of responsibility that we state clearly that urgent corrective action is required to restore confidence in the electoral system and protect the integrity of our democracy.
Our Demands
The resignation of the INEC Chairman for gross abuse of office, loss of public trust, and failure to uphold the neutrality required of that office.
An immediate end to political persecution, including all forms of intimidation, harassment, and targeting of opposition voices.
The protection of Nigeriaβs multi-party democracy, with a halt to all actions that undermine opposition parties.
Full respect for party autonomy, ensuring that the internal leadership and integrity of political parties, including ADC, are not interfered with.
In defence of these principles, we are commencing a nationwide peaceful protest, #OccupyINEC, starting immediately across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This is a call to action grounded not in anger, but in duty β a collective effort to safeguard the democratic future of our country.
In Abuja, participants will converge at the ADC National Headquarters. The date and time will be announced accordingly, from where a peaceful march will proceed to the INEC Headquarters.
Across the nation, Obidients and all well-meaning Nigerians are encouraged to organise, mobilise, and participate in a coordinated and disciplined manner.
This moment goes beyond party lines. It is about the survival of democratic values and the protection of the Nigerian state itself.
We will remain peaceful, we will remain lawful, but we will not stand by while our democracy is weakened.
Nigeria must not become a one-party state. We will stand, firmly and collectively, until what is right is done.
A New Nigeria is Possible β but only if we defend it.
Signed

#SaveOurDemocracy#DemocracyMatters
Yesterday, Monday 30th March, I returned to the North's Commercial nerve centre, Kano, on the invitation of my dear elder brother, Senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso @KwankwasoRM, whose decision to join our party marks yet another significant step in the collective effort to rescue and rebuild our democracy and dear nation, Nigeria.
As I have consistently maintained, this is the time for all opposition forces and well-meaning Nigerians to set aside their differences and work together in unity of purpose.
Nigeria is at a critical stage in its history, one that demands sacrifice, courage, and selflessness from all of us. The challenges we face, economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and declining public trust, require more than rhetoric. They require deliberate collaboration, disciplined leadership, and a shared commitment to national progress.
We must move beyond the politics of division, ethnicity, religion, and region, and embrace the politics of competence, character, capacity, compassion, and commitment to a better Nigeria. The task before us is not about winning elections alone; it is about rebuilding institutions, restoring confidence in governance, and securing a better future for our children.
I therefore call on all members of the opposition, and indeed every patriotic Nigerian, to see this moment as a defining one. A moment that calls for unity over division, service over self, and nation over personal interest.
A new Nigeria is POssible, but it will require all of us, working together, making sacrifices, and staying committed to the vision of a just, equitable, and prosperous nation. -PO
