Vtubing under an org is basically idol biz, i personally cant say for sure how much agency she has over her social media activity or even game choice. Regardless harassment isnt ok. And the reactive bigotry will make the harassers feel justified. Just a cycle of hate

In terms of the pikamee sitch i dont watch her but i dont really think her graduating was solely because of the pot game, she has a very dedicated and vocal fanbase and it feels naïve and silly to think that virtual streamers like her don’t have protections in place for bullying

-in the know of things specific to trans issues or the antisemitism present in the game (which i personally feel is the more pressing and important topic that SHOULD be brought up in this case as a trans person)

And one last thing: this isnt a short cut for animation. Animators have been using real live actors for decades. This process just involves more time/pay for actors and designers that know how to apply this technique accurately, and editors to put it together.

Its not even REALLY the type of AI that people are upset about, its just a shortcut to stylized rotoscoping with a filter. I wouldnt really even count it as anime. Anime inspired, yes! Anime, no. Anime involves abstraction of the form in one way or another.

Having finally watched this, the thing that gets me (besides how unbelievably bad it looks) is how it keeps being marketed as anime and yet the style is… not anime at all? It’s that thing of calling something anime just because you made it over the top, not based on actual style

Even the most detailed of anime and manga (such as berserk) does not look like proportional human beings with a cell-shaded filter and I feel like most people would agree. I feel like this was just dubbed AI for the views/publicity since its such a hot button topic.
