@bayeslord I look at it like capitalism and human interest are presently aligned because things humans currently want tend to capture the most free energy possible. Human centricity wont always be the capture driver by any means.
What a disastrously dreadful idea this is.
Using the Palantir contract as a sacrificial lamb so we can all cheer and high five our way to a sovereign wasteland in order to conclude that yes, in fact we did it, we have officially bought British (why is this good?)
While we're at it lets throw our Chinese manufactured iPhones in the Thames and push our German cars into a ditch and stop reading the Japanese owned Financial Times.
The NHS shouldn't be a playground where we test out home-grown last minute softwares that will obviously not work - the only thing thats basically guaranteed here is that people will lose their lives.
If we wanted something as good as Palantir we should of invested $2.46B of private funds into a homegrown solution over two decades ago - just like Palantir.
The statue of Prometheus is finally finished.
It was cast in Paris, crossed the Atlantic, and was assembled at Starbase. It took us 100 days to go from nothing to this.
People of the West, we have lived through an era devoid of dreams, devoid of destiny.
But the time has come to reclaim our dream of antiquity.
In a few months, we will start building a new city. It will be the most magnificent city in all of history.
After all, the great dream of the West has always been to rebuild Rome.
Come walk beside us in this endeavor. The world is waiting.
i hear (frequently) from people who try to over-intellectualize reindustrialization through various lenses in finance, economics, labor, technology, "free" market competition, etc. it's quite simple and doesn't require hardly any justification at this point. let me paint you a picture: the final crescendo of super intelligence is total mastery of atoms, and a semi-likely multipolar world of superpowers. the intermediate step that's missing right now is to build as much net-new tech-enabled capacity as possible. the transfer of tribal and process knowledge into compute is critical and very similar to how we've learned to control self-driving cars and robots. this is not something even the smartest model can predict/simulate with the level of necessary precision for real production, and these are glaring open deficiencies in all frontier models until they have data (live factories) to feast on. that learning rate will increase vastly as a function of overall tech-enabled capacity, and potentially displace frontier labs because they lack production experience and actual capacity themselves once intelligence is commoditized. the faster we do all of this the faster we create the potential for actual abundance.
Opus 5.5's writing remains positively terrible. No amount of prompting fixes it. It's better than Fable but that bar was so low. Anthropic needs to commit serious resources to fix this.
@nickcammarata@morqon In fairness I don’t think anyone is. Singularity is an apt term. Indistinguishable from magic, etc. The outcome distribution is essentially infinite.
