So here’s the deal. Pope Leo XIV stands as pope beside two men who can never be in communion with each other. The faith taught by Cardinal Raymond Burke is a completely different religion than the one taught by Father James Martin.
It’s not just two different takes on the same gospel. No. It’s two different gospels entirely. One says Christ forgives our sins. The other says Christ condones our sins. One promotes chastity, the other promotes carnality. One says accept God’s will. The other says make God accept your own will. The two separate religions of Burke and Martin are not the same religion. The two Jesus’ promoted by both men are not the same Jesus. These two men worship two very different Gods. So which God is the right God? Which Jesus is the right Jesus? Which gospel is the right gospel?
And herein lies the rub. After posing for these pictures, alongside both men, they both heralded Pope Leo XIV as their leader and father in the faith. To which I must ask, along with the same question posed by so many right now…
Which Faith? Which religion? Which gospel? Which God?
Because they cannot be one and the same. They are not.
That’s the dilemma Pope Leo now faces, and by Vatican press release, he now finds himself right in the middle of this tempest, whether he intended to or not, whether he is ready for it or not. It is upon him. Pope Leo must now choose. Pray for him. Pray that he chooses wisely. Because any attempt to reconcile the Gospel according to Burke, with the Gospel according to Martin, is a laughable joke, in which no one will take him seriously anymore if he tries to go down that route.
As I have said many times in the past. The Catholic Church is primed for schism, and it is historically overdue for one. I said the schism would not happen under Pope Francis, but he would set up the conditions for it to happen. It is a gift to his successor. Pope Leo XIV is the man under which it will happen. If he sides with Burke’s God, the schism will be small but painful, affecting mostly Europe but will leave all the other continents intact. If he sides with Martin’s God, the schism will be small at first, but then grow into an avalanche that will dwarf the Protestant Reformation. It will gradually become the greatest schism in the history of the Church.
