@Cinesnark@mattzollerseitz Act 1: Revealing John Wicks previous career as an exorcist, setting up Wife in Hell, conflict: it is an obvious lure by the Damned (which he sent to hell himself)
Act 2: Gathering the Gang, confronting his metaphorical demons.
Act 3: Doom Eternal, John Wick style.
@AubriGryphon @OSPyoutube Rust isn't the problem: For tools and weapons, the metal needs to be forgable and durable. Low quality iron breaks when forging, and breaks/chips on use long before it rusts.
@LisaBloom From my limited understanding of German labor law, many of those clauses would be illegal here, especially the perpetual clauses. (Which does not make the whole agreement invalid, it just makes those clauses non-enforceable. )
@psychemedia That should also make it possible to have a browser extension that marks those sections...
theoretically, 'cite' could be mis-used for this. I also like the idea of adding an extension to language tags, e.g., lang="en-US-ai" (would probably need to supersede RFC 564)
@garethlpowell "Why did they go mad?"
"They hacked their Interface."
"But everybody does that!"
*sigh* "Yeah, but they disabled their /filters/. Then they went to Ωhan. To see what humanity is really like."
*shudder* "So they were mad from the beginning."
@XiranJayZhao Berlin is like a hive of very disorganized ants. Some of them are conformists, following a corrupt council of drones. Some are anarchists that try to liberate corporate housing for the sake of the hive. Most just move like the hive just got kicked all the time.
@em_readman @ofinker Payeth thy free lancer.
In seriousness, lords not paying poor knights for their services did happen. Which led to them forming bands for better bargaining power. A union of knights, basically.
@eroauthorPMQ It is really concerning how many (especially male) MCs walk through their story being absolute assholes without a shred of self awareness or reflection.
Often reveals more about the authors worldview than I care to kno
@AntikytheraClio @MicroSFF Cyberpunk as a prediction was too accurate. Nobody believed it. Yet is has one advantage: It clearly shows who's greed props up the system. The path, therefore, becomes clear. *blades slide from wrist*
@eroauthorPMQ Hopefully. I am more pessimistic. The fundamental problems are only addressed with fundamental change.
The cultural denial and brainwashing goes deeeeeeep.
(Germans are not excempt. We have our own myths and denials.)
@eroauthorPMQ Every German kid learns the signs in school. How a democracy can turn into a regime of terror. Those in power fear to lose it, and compromise with untenable positions. Compromise after compromise. Until they are with their back against a wall. Lined up with a blindfold.
@eroauthorPMQ He was the horse the hitched their wagon on. A vehicle for their agenda. The few sane GOP members may have drawn a line in the sand, which he promptly trampled over. And again and again. Lost their seats to MAGAs in their primaries. Defeated without ever fighting. Facist cult.
@cstross They left themselves a loophole: Stating that no convicted inmate can be forbidden from working.
Alone the idea of private prisons sends a shudder down my spine.
@eroauthorPMQ I looked at the numbers this morning (being in Europe), and it astounds me how so many people can vote for the equivalent of a snake oil salesman.
I think it was George Carlin that liked US politics to sports: you are loyal to your team, no matter how shit it is. Atrocious.
