The song I listened to is DDGG Glory. I don’t think this song is cultural appropriation mainly@because of the mix of Chinese and English. But when he does speak English, it is broken English. Rap was developed in the United States by inner-city African Americans

My other thought too is that if you use slang coined by certain ethnic groups like it is your own then that could also be cultural appropriation. As for like the video itself, I don’t know it was kinda bland but weird to hear rap in another language. I don’t think I’d listenagain

And Latino-Americans. So I think that when language is used that is only used by certain groups and you are using it for the purpose of trends or aesthetics then that is cultural appropriation

It also could have used some more personality. Korea has so much culture and the video felt Western and watered down. Like why should I visit Korea? What makes the shopping and dining and experience different? Why would I want to live there. I felt really underwhelmed for sure.

So I watched the Korea Grand Sale video. I feel like that video was an example of destination marketing for sure. For example, the things they highlighted about Korea were “Accommodations”, “shopping”, and “dining”. I feel like they should have highlighted more unique things.

I would make sure to research the company you plan to work for or give your money to before hand. Doing your research on topics like male gaze also can help you consume more ethically

Male gaze is dangerous. I think women are already objectified by society enough and the mass amount of male gaze in popular culture doesn’t help. I knew that male gaze existed in the US but I was not familiar with the concept of it in other countries #malegaze

I also think male gaze is inherently systemic and will be really hard to change. Mainly because sex sells and it always will. As a society however we can be more moral with what we pick to consume. Really thinking about the companies we give our money to.

If we start disrespecting traditional jobs like plumbing and such then eventually people will want to stop doing these jobs and then we won’t have anyone to do them.

Also I do believe society isn’t necessarily moving in a way where jobs like trades are disrespected. I think we are beginning to encourage them more and more because college isn’t for everyone. Like trades are being offered in high school
