@Bygdin @HansMokeNiemann Actually happened in Olympics, Tokio 2021, men high jump, Tamberi/Barshim. Allowed by the rules, indeed arbiters said yes just few seconds after athletes requested. They were supposed to run a kind of tie-break as being equal, and they asked to split the gold.

I would prefer to question on tie-break rules, why no match limit (e.g. having Armageddon at a certain point) was foreseen in tournament rules?

@GothamChess It seems to me a silly situation similar to what we see in F1, with regulator (FIA) imposing fines if a driver proununces the F*** word... indeed the first fined driver was the World Champion. Rules are rules, yeah - but maybe behind those dramas there is a fight for power?
