A privilege to be at the Evusheld vigil yesterday, supporting the #Forgotten500K still shielding and taking precautions due a lack of response to vaccines and campaigning for government to provide Evusheld (drug that prevents / reduces impact of Covid). @FionaCLoud@kidneycareuk
For some, Covid vaccines are not effective - their only option is to keep shielding. But one drug could apparently solve all that. Today @bloodcancer_uk are asking gov to fund this special treatment for the #Forgotten500k at risk. Our piece for @5_News
Today we launch our national campaign to get Evusheld for the #Forgotten500k alongside
@Evusheld4theUK
and 15 other charities.
Please retweet and help us press the government to roll out Evusheld for the immunocompromised.

@JemmaFreeman3@AberdeenQuinie @evusheld4theuk Assume you had direct number for CMDU and weren't trying via switchboard? I managed to find a PDF which lists all CMDUs in country. I'm definitely now worried if I get it again and what's is available / will work. I can't have Paxlovid anyway, we need Evusheld now
@JemmaFreeman3@AberdeenQuinie @evusheld4theuk I had similar to this in March and my mum (also immunocompromised) had it this week. For, I managed to get hold of CMDU to understand process and then guide my GP to make a referral. For my Mum, no one got in touched as promised and 119 didn't help. Luckily she's ok so far. 1/2
@kallmemeg Many of us immunocompromised in the UK can get the antivirals / monoclonals if we test positive (outside of PANORAMIC). However, we're missing these drugs being available for prophylaxis and we have no long acting antibodies like AZ Evusheld, which is available in other countries
@nick_fire1 Hope you manage to avoid it. I (transplant recipient) have managed to not catch it from 2 kids in our house separately in last 6 weeks. They are young so it was me isolating from them instead of the other was round!
@ThatRyanChap Sure, I'm one of those immunocompromised people, and I still get it. If I test positive I'll be trying to get monoclonals ahead of antivirals. Have you seen evidence re asymptomatic transmitting less which South Africa apparently used to guide their change of policy? Thanks
@ThatRyanChap Can't get my head around the stopping asymptomatic testing / isolation approach. Is there evidence saying you don't transmit if asymptomatic? I get the need to get on with jobs and lives, but how does this impact those who vaccines offer no protection?
Great to be included in BBC article and on @BBCBreakfast - immunocompromised need clearer + quicker access to vaccine 4th doses, as well other treatments inc monoclonal antibodies and antivirals.
Thanks to @kidneycareuk. Clip here (with @stephenmcadoo )

@bonnaud_dowell @kidneyrunner @Dorry_Segev Are we certain that Ronapreve / Regeneron will not work with Omicron? UK is finally making it and Molnupiravir available for immunocompromised as soon as you get a positive test. No sign of preventative use or that we've ordered AZ though
@sailorrooscout Any thoughts on the story that a flight to NL had a huge number of positives on landing please? (Apparently double vaxxed did not need to test before departure)
