Your mentorship will be something I’ll always be grateful for! Thank you for guiding and supporting me through my journey in the US. I’m really grateful for all that I learned from you in medicine, research, and life.
As a physician, sometimes it's easy to despair.
I've been an academic doc for 25 years, and I've seen the challenges grow. The legal and regulatory burdens, the overwhelming needs of patients in a flawed system, the financial pressures facing hospitals.
But then.... Moments like this remind me of a reason why this career is so special. A medical student became my mentee, he faced long odds in our system. I taught him as best I could, and we put in the work, together. And now? Succesfully matched, a bright future, and I celebrated at his wedding this spring.
Helping the next generation of physicians makes the day brighter, the world better, and helps fill our cups despite it all. It's a special privilege that we have as medical school faculty.
