Natural disasters are gender neutral, yet the response efforts often exhibit gender bias.
In this article, I shared my thoughts reg the effects of the storm on #Libyan women

Looking at Libya today, it’s like watching Waiting for Godot play out in real life, but the risk in Libya is not just “the waiting”, but slowly mistaking the waiting itself for progress.
It's so sad to read about what is happening in #Libya these days. This must feel for Libyans like a step back to more than 10 years ago. Only this time, mediating international actors are weaker and more divided.
My family are trapped in the heart of the violence. There is no way out of this madness. No #safe passages, no #ceasefire, not even a glimpse of #solidarity.
My city is enduring the most brutal war. Tripoli is collapsing before our eyes. Civil society is paralyzed, unable to provide any humanitarian services. And the international community? Complete silence!
A proud and emotional moment to see Libya hosting such an important high-level event at #CSW69 after years of absence from international forums. I hope to see Libya leading the women’s agenda and becoming more active nationally and internationally because we truly deserve it!
Join our #CSW69 virtual event this Tuesday, 11th March, at 8:30 am EST, 5:30 pm Aden time. Listen to @mariamjalabi@halabugaighis Ayak Alak, @NesmahMansoor, @AmbJeannette moderated by @SherineT. Find out more and register here: https://t.co/78CffDtNdO
This is particularly timely as we are witnessing yet another backlash on women’s rights, with more restrictions being promised by government officials.
I’d like to share my insights for @LibyanJustice on the importance of accountability in implementing UNSCR 1325 and how the intl community could take further measures to ensure the WPS agenda is effectively implemented in Libya.
The fifth issue of our newsletter #Libya Accountability Updates is online!
This edition looks at Libya’s #humanrights situation on the ground from June – Sept. with @LCWNGO, plus reflections on #WPS month at the #UNSC from @mariamjalabi + @halabugaighis.

We are at #COP16 this week advocating for a just, sustainable & inclusive future.
Clean energy is a must, but how just will this transition be?
Historically left out of decision making, marginalised communities must have a voice! 🗣️

“Justice for women in #Libya – both those who have fallen and those who continue to carry the weight of our nation's struggles on their shoulders – must be served. It is time to act, for them, and for the future of Libya.”

Barely makes a headline.
One year after the floods in Derna, #Sabha is facing the same disaster for 2 days without coverage. Lives lost, homes destroyed & fears of disease outbreaks.
Different city, same preventable chaos. Libya’s disaster preparedness is failing, it’s time to start making meteorologists ministers. #Libya
A new Turkish-Libyan MOU is anchoring Turkey's military presence ever deeper, giving them broad freedoms and expanding their mandate. With all costs covered by an ever-more cash strapped Libyan state.
Libya continues being the only country that pays for its own colonisation
