Fletcher vs Peck- Georgia claimed that they owned the Yazoo lands. They split the land and sold it in exchange for bribes. Peck purchased land and sold it to Fletcher. After legislatures voided the sale, Fletcher sued Peck because Peck did not own the land when he sold it.
Significance to US history- The case helped create a growing precedent for the sanctity of legal contracts, and hinted the native americans did not hold title to their own lands. Also protected property rights. @ApushFleetwood
