Elphaba being in the position of "God" in this scenario, because she embodies an idealism that she could never manage to materialize onto reality, and Glinda being "Adam", the human who does have that materiality but who needs Elphaba's moral guidance to do good
Okay but the way it also kinda looks like the Creation of Adam painting, it really conveys Elphaba passing on her legacy onto Glinda, trusting her with the mission of making a better society ๐ฅฒ๐ฅฒ i love them so much
i think it's really funny that people see this poster and not immediately assume they're in love with each other / soulmates / soultied... they're in love and doomed by the narrative it's such a classic tragedy!
@DearlyBearloved@failurewriter I think a big part of it is that non-Western cultures get generalized way more. As you said, this whole "family is first, do what your family says" is a very present idea in plenty of Western families, but people attribute that attitude to conservatism rather than culture itself
@regina_wtf@glindaselphie To be clear I'm not criticizing being an invested fan and having elaborate headcanons, I just think there's a type of fan that really lacks the self-awareness that the average person hasn't spent this much time thinking about this and actually need to be *shown* these aspects.
@regina_wtf@glindaselphie Either this or the story will go on another direction and they'll get mad that "it makes no sense" when it contradicts their headcanons.
@_probka@redhead_ophelia The way this brand of radfem talks about social structures is deeply fascinating. Like what even is the point of doing anything if literally any human activity can be a form of subjugation, given the fact that social structures are everywhere in society.
Tbf it took me a very long time to understand that a lot of my past experiences were actually traumatic. I feel like people think trauma only happens after very extreme and tragic events, but a lot of completely normalized situations can lead to trauma.
