@bphillipsonMP If you canβt afford to give your kids a bowl of cereal, toast and marmalade and a mug of tea as a top spending priority then, frankly, you shouldnβt have children.
@rcolvile More people could have jobs digging ditches if the government outlawed ditch-digging with JCBs and mandates only spoons can be used. Digging ditches with spoons is a poor strategy for prosperity, however.
@WEschenbach Meanwhile, the most authoritative estimates of deaths through medical negligence in the USA are 100,000-400,000 annually, costing several hundred billion $. Perhaps focus on the beam in your own eye before the mote in ours?
@patmcfaddenmp Save yourself the trip. Holland has an education system that values skills as much as academic ability and streams children according to their talent and ability. Employment for young people is not excessively risky for employers. Mental health provision for the young is good.
@KaneEmerson These are territorial emissions. Add in exported manufacturing and transportation and decline is only 15%, which can all be accounted for by stopping use of coal.
@hoffman_noa To replace UK peak domestic gas heating in winter with electric heat pumps would mean doubling electricity generation capacity to over 100GW.
@BylineTimes@NafeezAhmed I didn't get past "offshore wind getting cheaper". Yes, since 2011 ancient history, but projected cost has doubled in last 5 years.
@marklevinshow Right region wrong country. The engine for global jihad is Saudi Arabia, not Iran. 9/11 was a 100% Saudi-origin attack. Al Qaeda and ISIS were/are sworn enemies of Iran.
@rcolvile That the UK is using less electricity every year, despite increasing generation capacity by a third and a massive expansion of the electricity grid.
@DanNeidle This is coupled with the explosion in the length of the tax code since 1970. Of course loopholes have to close but the costs of code maintenance and the accounting sector for adhering to the enormously complex code must be astronomic.
@TorstenBell The majority of the enormous cost for the grid is the direct result of decisions to force heavily subsidised, intermittent, and far-flung renewables onto it.
@SamJRushworth Taxpayers are footing the Β£150 "reduction", which means more borrowing, and then paying interest on the debt, so actually more expensive. All you are doing is hiding the pea under the cup.
@Cate_Mail@MarkJardin19490@KurtSchlichter IDF had been informed prior by WCK of the convoy route and intention. Whether it was day or night is irrelevant. IDF achieved their intention, shutting down WCK aid entirely.
@WEschenbach@RoKhanna@RashidaTlaib How many Israeli civilians have been killed by Hezbollah since the βceasefireβ? How many Lebanese civilians? Israel is not βdefending itselfβ any longer, it is extracting bloody vengeance on a civilian population.
@icarus62 RCP 8.5 represents accelerated use of coal and other fossil fuels. The world is not doing that, so either you are wrong in stating we are tracking 8.5 or the modelling is useless, or both.
