@Peston My Dad had an entire lexicon of Yiddish insults - schmuck, schlemiel, schlemazel, schlepper - mostly used as banter. But I don’t think he ever called anyone a schnorrer - that was beyond the pale for him.

However Johnson has been proven to have lied and has demonstrated cowardice (think fridge). “Schnorrer” not only means “beggar”, but is a pejorative term, even when applied to an actual beggar which Starmer isn’t.

@A1an_M @horton_official @PeterKGeoghegan No - peer review is not “denying science”. Peer review is a scientific analysis of a scientific paper. In other words, are the results reproducible, are the assumptions rational, is the analysis logical? Denying science is disagreeing with provable facts.
