it's so funny how people try to isolate 'the hipster era' into this specific 2007-2012 pocket of time while still using the 1940s term hipster. "real hepcats listened to mgmt and vampire weekend, not the lumineers."
@milkdreamss@TheMovieMermaid its not quite a real word. we made it up by combining bio and pic so many people say like buy oh pic, others say buy ah pic, which is more in line with the way other full words that start with bio are pronounced
@myyyyymelodyyyy@TheMovieMermaid in spelling simple phonetics i often struggle to correctly differentiate the don and dawn sounds but i guess it might be closer to bi aw. i would also go luh-gee
@TheMovieMermaid yeah but when it starts a word usually its pronounced bi ah like biology. the myopic pronunciation bothered me too but i think this is how language happens i guess
@edward_bernayz honestly the rest of the stuff in the thread does seem worthy of criticism or further investigation but i think including this as part of it makes the whole thing seem silly. what are the consequences of brandon wardell knowing timmy thick was a harvard student?
