@ConnorHolden00 Yup, talked about it before the game. I also agree, France’s CB pairing is solid but in my opinion they don’t need to push Kounde high up always. Can have a back 3 easily while Dembele / Mbappe holds the width at times when Olise drifts inside
France’s rest defence can be another issue. They rely on the full backs for crosses into the box and Rabiot being a box to box midfielder France can often leave just 3 players behind. With Senegal’s threat from the wings, that can be dangerous.
This Norway team is setup for a dual striker formation instead of playing Sorloth as RW just use Haaland as a target man and make Sorloth run behind the defensive line. Both can start up front in a 4-4-2 or 5-3-2 if you need width
@mediocentr0 Why are we comparing one of the best runner + finisher of all time with probably one of the best dribbler + passer + creative mind the world has ever seen ?
I think Olise was more effective in the number 10 role than his role in deeper areas. I also agree with you that starting Cherki is a better idea, maybe instead of Dembele? Too much of a risk and the failure would generate heavy backlash but Cherki can be more effective in breaking defensive lines
@StatmanDave changing the formation to 4-3-3 from 4-2-3-1 and allowing him to drop deep and start his runs from there really helped him. He does this for Real Madrid a lot which at times Madrid fans hate a lot too for his lack of box presence, but it's his natural style
@Tactx_ What do you think helped France to move the ball through that 24m into the final 3rd? I guess Senegal stopped sitting back in a zonal block and that opened up gaps, using Olise as a 10 in between the lines was also a very good decision
@pythaginboots If France keep inverting Olise which they might , then instead of pushing Kounde , push mbappe on the RW, Dembele can then become the CF
Maybe try Mbappe RW once where he stays wide instead of dropping inside like Olise. Both Olise and Mbappe can rotate for the spot, it’s better than having Kounde there
