Many Liberal Democrat MPs spent the 2024 GE desperately trying to make us forget about their 2010-15 cosying up to the Tories.
Last night, they allied with their old friends, alongside Reform.
Regardless, Labour’s Employment Rights Bill is one step closer to becoming law.
Last night, Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Reform MPs all voted to water down Labour’s Employment Rights Bill - undermining the right to a guaranteed hours contract and protection from unfair dismissal.
Labour MPs stood together, defending these key new rights for working people.
MPs must continue to stand against any attempts by the Lords to weaken the Bill, and together we will make sure the New Deal for Working People is delivered in full.
The Right wing papers’ onslaught on Angela Rayner and her houses is one of their old tricks…In mid 1970s they attacked Harold Wilson relentlessly for having ‘five homes’…
The houses were Number 10, Chequers, his small constituency home in Huyton ( all mps have a constituency base), his house in London which he lived in until unexpectedly becoming PM again in 1974 ( did the papers expect him to sleep rough in London?) .. and a tiny bungalow in the Scillies..recently it emeged the Wilsons didn’t even have enough money for the care he needed .. but the papers’ propaganda created a false impression of lofty geed.. they’re at it again…especially the Times…3 stories a day on Rayner… current government needs titans to deal with UK media.
So, for those of us that went to state school, our parents have not ‘sacrificed everything for a brighter future’ and we have no ‘opportunities’ as state education ‘stifles’ our ‘dreams’?
This kind of talking down of state education, 93% of us no less, runs deep for the Tories.
Thirteen thousand children, whose parents sacrificed everything for a brighter future.
Thirteen thousand children with hopes dashed, with opportunities crushed.
Thirteen thousand children, betrayed by policies that stifle their dreams.
Thirteen thousand children who deserved better.

Fancy forking out over £20k for a hip replacement? Being asked for your credit card details as a deposit in A&E?
Me neither.
Nigel Farage is a threat to the NHS. Insurance premiums might be OK for Mr Moneybags, but it’s not the Labour way or the NHS way.
#OTD 1900. Labour Party is founded.
The Labour Representation Committee (LRC) is formed in London following a socialist conference.
The 129 delegates pass Keir Hardie's motion to create “a distinct group to represent working class people in Parliament”.

Great to be at No 11 to meet a Labour Chancellor to talk about how we grow the economy and boost living standards.
The National Wealth Fund, a coherent industrial strategy and the New Deal for Workers mark a positive step change after 14 years of decline.
Mary is our longest serving local Labour Party member, joining in ‘55 aged 14 after hearing Maxwell Bresler, Labour’s GE candidate, speak.
Mary went on to be a founding member of the Bruton&Wincanton Young Socialists.
Always lovely to see you, Mary!
